How could anyone forget how things went completely off the rails after Ryan Garcia tested positive for Ostarine following his April fight with Devin Haney? However, after pleading guilty, he got his punishment—a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) as well as a million-dollar fine. Ryan Garcia is now gearing up for his big return, set to face Rolando Romero in Times Square in New York, on May 2. And if he wins—and if Devin Haney also takes down José Ramírez on the same card of the Fatal Fury event—boom, we’ve got ourselves a high-stakes rematch. With just two months to go before fight night for two of boxing’s young stars, drama is already brewing between them and Devin Haney’s little brother has a role to play in it.

Anyone remember the little Instagram video his younger brother posted two days after the fight? Let us refresh your memory. “I was on the prayer mat today and Allah was just telling me he(Ryan Garcia) was going to test positive… test positive for his drug test,” Sean Haney boldly predicted in the clip. The strangeness of the assertion was that it was made a month before the actual VADA results ever came out. Coincidence? Or was he clairvoyant? Regardless, that was all Garcia needed to allege foul play, something which he reiterated during their recent press conference in New York. And as he did that, Sean Haney, who was in the crowd decided to give him the finger. Soon an argument broke out between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney that ended with the host stepping in. But what about that strange clip from a year ago? How do you explain that? Well, Sean Haney tried to, back in January.

Ryan Garcia refuses to entertain the explanation

A couple of months ago, ThrillBoxing casually dropped a bombshell on their Instagram page. Sean Haney (Devin Haney’s brother) tells @princefiorentino how he suspected Ryan Garcia would have a positive drug test before the results came back positive for PEDs 👀💥🥊,” the caption read. In the clip, Sean explained to the host that his brother, Devin Haney, had done everything by the book leading up to the fight. “We did everything right in that training camp. Trained hard, blood, sweat, tears, everything in that training camp. I think that was the best my brother’s training camp ever looked,” he stated.

But then, on the other side, you had Ryan Garcia, who—according to Sean—was out drinking, smoking, and partying just a week before the April 20 fight in Brooklyn. And here’s where things get weird. “I dreamed of it that week,” Sean revealed. “My mom was like,’ What if he tests positive for dr–s?’ But I didn’t really think he was going to pop up for steroids. I thought it would be for hard drugs like co**ine or something like that,” he added. For Ryan Garcia, this explanation may not be enough.

A few days ago, Garcia reposted the same video of Sean Haney’s April 2024 clip, captioning it, “Nobody will ever know how Mr Sean knew that I would test positive. How convenient, and this was weeks before it ever came out. For anyone that wanted to see the video here it is. CORRUPTION.” Looks like the 24-1 boxer is not buying the prophetic explanation at all. But here’s the thing—despite everything that went down, Ryan Garcia won’t say much about it because…

Keep away, stay away

A few hours before the Fatal Fury event promotion in New York, Ryan Garcia sat down with The Ring for an interview. Naturally, the conversation turned to his upcoming fight on May 2, where he and Devin Haney will be sharing the same card in Times Square.

The reporter brought up how both fighters managed to keep things “classy” at the London Awards Gala back in January, despite their long-standing rivalry. Ryan’s response? Simple—“He’s suing me.”

Yeah, you heard that right. Garcia joked that anything he says now could be used against him in court. “Everything I’ve said is now used against me,” he said, clearly frustrated. At one point, he even called Haney a “bi–h” but quickly added, “Who knows, maybe he’ll sue me for saying that too. He might use it in the deposition.” Clearly, Garcia feels like Haney is more focused on legal battles than the actual fight. “He used a lot of my tweets. Everything I said, he used against me,” he pointed out.

But here’s the real takeaway. Ryan Garcia is over the trash talk. Now, it’s all about action. For now, with a lawsuit hanging over him, the 26-year-old seems to be keeping things low-key. But come fight night? Expect fireworks.
