The pay-per-view sales from a fight make up a huge portion of a boxer’s payout. Not to mention, these numbers can also indicate how an event performed, making it one of the more vital aspects. Despite that, there have been some rumors about the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney PPV numbers being lower than expected. So, ‘The Dream’ Haney and Eric Gomez have come forward to clear the air!
Before Garcia shocked the world with a win, Oscar De La Hoya appeared in an interview with Ariel Helwani hinting at the fight potentially producing millions from pay-per-view. ‘The Golden Boy’ had also predicted that the fight would be among the top ten pay per views of all time. However, amid a lack of news on these numbers, some have come up with their own estimates. So, in two separate interviews recently, Haney and the president of Golden Boy Promotions vehemently denied the legitimacy of any such estimations.

However, it wasn’t just Garcia’s promoter who denied the existence of the actual numbers. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, even ‘The Dream’ said the same thing. After being asked about the PPV details, Haney said, “Honestly, I haven’t even got the pay-per-view numbers yet. And I am still waiting on the pay-per-view numbers because I get paid on pay-per-view. So… No, I don’t have the pay-per-view numbers yet.”

After the dust settled from Garcia and Haney’s clash, a fan with the X handle, Ray Jackson, hopped on the platform with what he thought were the actual PPV numbers for the fight. This didn’t sit well with Garcia, who lashed out at the fan! Garcia responded to the tweet by writing, “Shut the f**k up.” It’s also worth mentioning that the Victorville native had claimed he made over $50 million from the fight in an Instagram post. Also, Haney had admitted to making over $35 million from the fight on his Instagram story.
With that said, it’s clear as day that despite what’s on the internet about Haney and Garcia’s PPV sales, the actual numbers could be far more than any estimates. Moreover, Garcia’s increased fame will only allow him more leverage in all his future fight negotiations. Only time will tell how much the PPV actually produced. Until then, we would love to get your estimates for how much the PPV buys could be. Would you also like to see a rematch between these two soon? Let us know in the comments section.
