Eddie Hearn vs. Devin Haney—Who's in the right, and what does this mean for Haney's future?

Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois was a fight that no one wanted to miss. The crowd of 96,000 presented some of the biggest faces in combat sports like Conor McGregorTyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, and many more. But two personalities who took the headlines were Eddie Hearn and Devin Haney as the pair got into a heated confrontation during the event.

Surprisingly, this heated exchange between former partners was due to a ticket request. Admittedly, Haney asked for a ticket for the event from the Matchroom Sport promoter but the latter could not do so. ‘The Dream’ did not take the rejection kindly as he went to social media and criticized Eddie Hearn, calling him “the fakest n***a I ever met bro.” The controversy only increased as the two met each other during the event and Hearn let Haney know a piece of his mind. Hearn finally revealed what he said to Haney during the conversation and he was not at all kind with his words.

After the event, Hearn confirmed the fact that it was him only that started the altercation at Wembley Stadium. In an interview with Boxing News, Hearn made it clear that he did not like the arrogance shown by Devin Haney online. Hearn stated, “I received a message from him at 6 am on the day of the fight saying ‘I need tickets for Joshua,’while accepting the fact that he was not able to reply to his former boxer because of too much work.

Hearn further explained that he was straight with Haney and called out on his arrogance. “‘You’re an arrogant f***ing p***k to be honest. And I pulled him at the show and said, ‘What do you think you’re doing?'” Hearn added as he explained the conversation between the pair.

The Matchroom Sport promoter was not done as he made sure to bring out their history during the argument and let the 31-0 boxer know that he had changed. “‘You’re like a little kid. You used to be a good kid, now I don’t like this arrogance.’ He said, ‘You said something about me in the media.’ I said, ‘I never said anything disrespectful, but you have, so don’t ever disrespect me again.” Hearn was clear about the fact that he did not like the disrespect by Haney. He gave him an ultimatum to not behave like this ever again.

The 45-year-old promoter also made it clear to Haney that he has never said anything negative about the latter in media. Hearn made it clear that he does not represent Haney now so he will always give his honest opinion about the boxer. This ugly spat becomes more regretful when you consider the relationship these two used to share.

Since then, the relationship between these two has been sour, but nothing suggested it would turn this bad. Even Hearn was surprised by the tweet as he stated, “Bear in mind the relationship I’ve got with Devin, bear in mind everything we’ve been through, I could not believe he would put that out on social media,” in disbelief.

Hearn also made it clear to Haney that the majority of the tickets on ringside were handled by HE Turki Alalshikh and there was not much he could do in such a short period. It looks like the duo has settled their beef but this has seemingly put an end to any future collaboration. What do you think about the confrontation by Eddie Hearn?
