“He’s got everything.” Eddie Hearn talks about Jack Catterall with utmost enthusiasm. After all, the British boxer has the boxing IQ, strong chin, willpower to stage splendid comebacks, and devastating power that knocks opponents down when connected. That’s not it. He has also received the nod as “the best” from Regis Prograis.
Catterall, 31, handed a beating to Prograis, 35, as he rallied behind a late comeback in the fight, overcoming a fifth-round knockout. This win has put him on the cusp of the title shot next. Meanwhile, Prograis, 29-3, is mulling over his career options and which path to take. Nevertheless, the American fighter was humble about his loss and even compared Catterall with Devin Haney and Josh Taylor, who were the other fighters who had defeated him.
In a conversation with DAZN Boxing, ‘Rougarou’ admitted that Catterall was the better boxer and argued that he deserved a title shot next. Interestingly, he also declared him the best boxer he had ever faced. He said, “Jack was just better, that’s all. Jack was the better man. I’m not gonna lie. He definitely deserves a world title fight next. Good luck, Jack. You are really good. I’ve fought the best, and you were the best out of all of them.”

Prograis has the option to switch to bare-knuckle fighting or move up a division to not drain himself during the weight-cutting process. “I’m tired of being skinny,” the New Orleans native wrote on his social media handle after the fight, indicating his new move. But what about Catterall? Where is he heading now?
Jack Catterall: ready to go to the length and breadth of the world for a title shot
‘El Gato’ has kept all the options open, and he is willing to face all four champions at 140 next. He could have his title shot early next year, depending on which champion he decides to pursue. Hearn, 45, has hinted at all the possibilities and venues his fighter could put on a show next. He announced, “With regards to Teofimo Lopez, I said we’d love to spank him… I doubt he would come to Manchester. Liam Paro is going to say, ‘What about Australia? Which is something we’ll look at as well. If Hitchins wins, he’ll say, ‘What about New York?’ We’ll look at that as well.”
In addition, Catterall has expressed his willingness to fight any of the champions. Given his last two fights, where he defeated two former world champions, fans might not have to wait long to see him fight for the title. It remains to be seen who he picks next and how they plan it out.
