Manny Pacquiao officially retired from boxing in August 2021. However, he is looking to make his return against the top fighters of his divisions. He has reportedly shown interest in a potential bout against Conor Benn. But, Benn is in the middle of some other fight. In October of last year, he tested positive for his VADA drug test.

Ever since then, the boxer is trying to clear his name from the controversy surrounding his drug test. Though he is not suspended to compete, there are loads of options available to him. From the likes of Kell Brook to Chris Eubank Jr. and maybe even Manny Pacquiao.

Eddie Hearn details the potential matchup between Manny Pacquiao vs Conor Benn

Pacquiao is a household name in boxing. Needless to say, he is a legend of the sport and his desire to compete at this age is laudable. Eddie Hearn, in a recent interview, discussed the possibility of Pacquiao squaring up against the Britisher Benn in the square ring.

He stated, “Manny Pacquiao wants the (Benn) fight badly. Again, when you talk about criticism, Conor’s best wins are Chris Algieri and Chris Van Heerden, right?”

Hearn points out the fact that fans usually do not credit Benn for being a great talent. Yet, the match-up between the two is called a “mismatch”. He added, “All of the sudden a fight with Manny is a horrific mismatch”

Hearn also mentions that the potential bout between them is massive for the sport. He also confesses that he is being pressured to get fight signed.

Is Pacquiao Vs Benn a real possibility?

Pacquiao is 44 years of age but is still eager to compete. He has also been very specific about fighting Benn. However, as of now, there are certain hurdles with may halt the fight or keep it in abeyance. As Benn is still trying to win a legal battle over the BBBofC.

Hearn in the same interview stated Benn is in the middle of a legal proceeding against BBBofC and that even the board is also invested in the same. Do you think this bout would take place in the near future?
