Finally, the sons will meet at a faraway land to settle a bitter feud that almost climaxed in October last year. Conor Benn, son of former Middleweight great Nigel Benn, failed twice in the tests taken by VADA as he was about to face his archrival Chris Eubank Jr., son of another British great, Chris Eubank, on October 8 at London’s O2 Arena.

According to Benn and his team, the banned substance clomifene found in his samples could be ascribed to ‘food or drink contamination.‘ However, the more plausible explanation could have been a high intake of eggs, roughly thirty to thirty-four per week. After his representations, WBC cleared him of the charges of ‘intentional doping.

But the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) is yet to follow suit, and the investigation from their end is still on. As a result, Conor Benn could only fight outside Great Britain. Early this month, his promoter, Matchroom Sports’ Eddie Hearn, announced that Benn might face either former world champion Manny Pacquiao or would follow up on the pending argument with Eubank Jr.

Conor Benn still has some explaining to do

@LiquidatorPod took a dig at Benn for last year’s claims that eating eggs caused high clomifene content in his samples.

@Danny39098934 wondered about the PPV subscription rates and swirled a pun, Will it be Eggspensive?

@sportytweets3 wondered whether Benn’s victory is directly proportional to the number of eggs he takes!

@_Joshuak01 also couldn’t help himself from taking a dig at Benn. According to him, it took four rounds for Liam Smith to wind up Chris Eubank Jr. during their January bout. Hence for Benn, it should be much easier!

@SvenOnTopic stated matter-of-factly that Conor Benn stands cleared to fight even though the circumstances seemed suspicious. But nothing will satisfy him more than to see Chris Eubank Jr. outboxing him in their June fight.

On his part, Conor Benn went ahead and walked away from his BBBofC license. He insists on never presenting eggs as a reason for failing the tests in the 270-page document he shared with WBC. At the same, he has refused to ‘accept’ clomifene’s presence in his body. What’s your take on Eubank Jr. vs Benn? Let us know your views and opinions in the comments below.
