It was Frank Warren, the promoter of heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury, who has come out strongly against recent comments made by Deontay Wilder, accusing Fury of cheating in their trilogy bout two years ago.

In an interview with IFL TV, Warren defended Fury’s integrity and demanded that Wilder show him some respect. “Show Tyson some respect, he’s not cheated,” Warren said. “I mean, what did he cheat? Getting off the floor in the first fight? And coming back, he was cheated out of the first fight, he won that fight (Tyson), that was a bad decision.”

Warren went on to criticize Wilder for continuing to make baseless accusations against Fury, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. “Second fight there was no ambiguity about the result or anything, it was what it was.”

Warren said. “Tyson did what I said he would do, he would stop him and he did stop him. Third fight was a bloody excellent fight, it’s the best light heavyweight fight I attended, not watched on film. The atmosphere, the fight, it was just electric and he was part of that. Takes two guys to bare their soul and do that in the ring and he was part of that history and he shouldn’t demean it by calling Tyson a cheat.”

Warren’s comments come in response to a recent interview with Wilder in which he doubled down on his claims that Fury had cheated in their previous bouts. Wilder, who lost to Fury in their rematch and the subsequent fight, has been highly critical of Fury’s tactics and has accused him of cheating to gain an advantage.

However, his claims have been widely dismissed by the boxing community at large and Warren’s comments reflect a growing frustration with Wilder’s continued attempts to discredit Fury’s achievements in the ring.
