After a year of inactivity in the sport, Deontay Wilder is back and ready to fight. Wilder’s last fight was in October last year and he fought the champion Tyson Fury. In exciting news, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is finally back and will fight Robert Helenius on October 15th inside the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York. While Wilder prepares for his comeback, Andy Ruiz Jr. makes his return after almost sixteen months and captures a victory over Luis Ortiz Jr. inside the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles.

Following Ruiz Jr.’s victory over Ortiz, Deontay Wilder stepped in the ring and offered ‘Destroyer’ respect and sportsmanship. Currently, looking at the heavyweight division of pro boxing, a fight between Ruiz Jr. and Wilder does not seem impractical for the sport’s sake.

Since discussions over Tyson Fury is occupied with Usyk, and Joshua temporarily kept at bay, why doesn’t the boxing community pan its attention to Wilder vs. Andy Ruiz?

Following the end of Ruiz vs. Ortiz, Wilder said the following on Ruiz Jr.: “Deontay Wilder’s back, we’re always looking for great exciting fights. If that’s what lies up next, I’ve gotta handle business, but after that we can get it on.

If Andy Ruiz Jr. and Deontay Wilder were to fight, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ will have a 5-inch reach advantage. However, Ruiz Jr. is 4 years younger than Wilder and his young age shall benefit him in a way or the other if they are to fight.
