In his recent statement, Deontay Wilder countered Eddie Hearn‘s belief that David Benavidez is a “much easier fight” for Canelo Alvarez. The former WBC World Heavyweight champion believes that Alvarez is too small for Benavidez. According to Wilder, who recently showed interest in fighting Oleksandr Usyk, Caleb Plant fought a much better fight against ‘Red Flag’ than Alvarez potentially could.

Wilder was overwhelmed by Plant vs. Benavidez. “It was amazing. In my eyes, there were no losers in that fight,” he said. In his recent interview with ES NEWS, Wilder praised Benavidez while simultaneously warning Canelo Alvarez.

In a direct statement, Wilder called Canelo Alvarez an “easy fight” for David Benavidez. In fact, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ believes that Benavidez will wear Canelo down quicker in the ring. Although he referred to the cloth of unpredictability constantly embracing the sport of boxing, Wilder stressed Benavidez overpowering Alvarez inside the ring. “I think he’s going to wear him down even quicker. Think Caleb gave Benavidez more of a challenge than Canelo would give him. I think Canelo is way too small, but who knows?” stated Wilder thoughtfully.

Speaking of Plant squaring off against Benavidez, Wilder praised the former’s performance. “Caleb did a good job against a guy that is definitely bigger than anybody in that weight division. He knows that as well,” stated Wilder. Following the collapse of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, Wilder’s team expressed his willingness to face Usyk in the ring. However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’, who returned last year in October, has not yet disclosed his upcoming opponent.
