The two-time WBC super middleweight champion, David Benavidez, and the former IBF super middleweight titleholder, Caleb Plant, recently gave the super middleweight division one of its biggest fights of the year. Meanwhile, the undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez, has long dominated the division. And, Benavidez made it a point to issue an ultimatum to Alvarez. On the other hand, Deontay Wilder wasted no time in sharing his predictions about this potential matchup.

Wilder was recently in an interview with ESNEWS. In conversation, he was asked how Alvarez will fare against Benavidez. The question intrigued ‘The Bronze Bomber’. And, he responded, by saying, “Canelo’s too small for him. That’s an easy fight for David, in my opinion. I think he’s going to wear him down even quicker.”

Moreover, Wilder further mentioned that Plant was a tougher opponent for Benavidez. He said, “I think Caleb gave Benavidez more of a challenge than Canelo would give him. I think Canelo is way too small. But who knows? This is boxing. You never know until you know.”

Additionally, Wilder also expressed his appreciation for the Plant vs. Benavidez. And, also stated that there were ‘no losers in the fight’.

Wilder’s prediction on the potential outcome of Benavidez vs Alvarez did not sit well with fans. In fact, a lot of them took to social media to share their thoughts about the same.

Many fans disagreed with the statement that Alvarez would be an easier opponent than Plant. Moreover, user @rogeliobarreraj also reminded Wilder that Alvarez hits harder than Plant.

In the same vein, user @Samnacio81 shed light on Alvarez’s counter-punching skills. And also stressed that it would be very hard for Benavidez to win the fight.

Meanwhile, some fans were quick to point out that Wilder’s previous predictions were wrong.

However, a few fans felt that Wilder might have a point. User @Thatbigshot was curious if Benavidez’s fighting style might prove challenging for Alvarez.
