Life has not been easy for Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight champion of the world scaled the Mount Olympus of boxing. He was one of the most successful heavyweights of his time. His humble beginnings did not stop him from working hard and building a better future for himself. But Tyson himself agrees that if it was not for his mentor and father figure, Cus D’amato, he wouldn’t have become the man that he is today. And, wouldn’t have found purpose in his life. However, that purpose too was built on shaky foundations. And even during his successful professional boxing career, he struggled to find meaning as he grappled with unhappiness. But, as he grew old, it seems like that purpose just got clearer for him.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Mike Tyson talked to his guest about the purpose of life. And needless to say, the 56-year-old got serious while answering the question. He remained brutally honest with the guest and gave some pointers for them to follow.

In the recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the 56-year-old was joined by Colombian music sensation J Balvin and co-host DJ Whoo. And both of Tyson’s companions were interested in knowing what the 56-year-old’s purpose is in life. Bringing out his quintessential philosophical side, Tyson painted a good picture for both of them.
Drawing a comparison between humans and animals, Tyson said, “An animal is born. He knows by his instincts what his purpose is. We gotta figure it out. “
Further, when asked what Tyson’s purpose is in his life, the 56-year-old responded by saying, “Happiness, Not to be afraid of death. Enjoying death. Just know that death is as beautiful as life, and life is as beautiful as death.” On the same podcast, Mike Tyson made a confession about his mental health.

For Tyson, the acceptance of one’s mortality is one of the most important characteristics of humans. And it makes life a lot easier. To conclude, Tyson said, “I think accepting the fact that we won’t be here is a victory and being cool with it.. ”
