Boxing legend Mike Tyson has faced significant challenges throughout his tumultuous life. From anger issues to depression, the former heavyweight champion has dealt with a lot of traumas and heartbreak which would eventually shape him into the force everybody feared and respected. Tyson’s outbursts and aggressive behavior became synonymous with his public image.

However, over the years, he has learned to confront and manage his anger through various therapeutic interventions and self-reflection. While ‘Iron Mike’ has not always been in the right frame of mind, according to him, people struggling with issues can become successful in life, despite many believing the contrary.

In an episode of his podcast Hotboxin along with guest musician J Balvin, Tyson made some interesting remarks about people with mental health issues. He claimed that while some people might be struggling with various mental health problems, they still manage to succeed in athletic and academic endeavors.

It has something to do with the way those people, what do they call that, Idiot savants.. in some kind of way when you are not good at certain parts of life, but like athletics or mental strength. You can just do anything Sing, see, numbers that people can’t see,” he said.

With a net worth estimated at $10 million, Tyson’s journey serves as an inspiration for those navigating their own mental health struggles. It goes on to show that even a person like ‘Iron Mike’ who always struggled with depression still managed to succeed in life. Despite this, it was not an easy road for the former champion who detailed the repercussions he faced due to his uncontrolled anger.

In another episode of Hotboxin, joined by rapper Bobby Shmurda and Hoochie Daddy, Tyson candidly shared his personal experience with anger management. He revealed that he would only express his anger when someone wronged him. However, he noted that whenever he displayed his anger, he took medication to help him manage it. Specifically, the drugs Prozac and Lithium. He also expressed frustration with the others trying to give him  medication rather than understanding the reasons behind his anger.

Every time I express my anger because somebody got me pi*sed off and they did something wrong to me, always have these people in my life. They want to give me medicines, they want to give me Prozac and Lithium. They would fu** me up with the Prozac.” he said
