Former two-division world champion, Shakur Stevenson has had a tough time landing a fight these days. The fighter last went against Shuichiro Yoshino in April this year. After registering a victory through knockout, Stevenson planned to move up the weight class and try his hand in the lightweight division. He kept his vision on the WBC title held by Devin Haney.
In a bid to contest it, his team wrote to the governing body to mandate a fight against Haney. However, Haney had different plans. Faced with a choice between defending his title or moving up the weight class to challenge Regis Prograis, he chose to move up the weight class and face Prograis. With the WBC title lying vacant, Stevenson looked for an opponent that he could fight against to obtain it. He chose Frank Martin, but that too quickly fell apart. Amidst these developments, Stevenson has, on numerous occasions, taken to social media to speak his mind. The newest area that he discussed? Friends in the boxing realm!

‘Sugar’ Stevenson is known for his speaking his mind. The fighter keeps honesty on his sleeve, and a sense of nonchalance on his mind. From openly projecting his disappointment on Haney to calling out Errol Spence Jr.’s critics, he has never shied away from saying what he thinks he needs to say. He recently took to Instagram to detail what he’s learned about the boxing world and its business.

The fighter believes that many fighters lose sight of their goal and often derail themselves from the grind, but he has not made the mistake. He said, ” Lot of nig*as get inside this position and lose the vision.. So I’m focused more than ever, been grindin’ like we ain’t winnin #Nov16th”
His revelation comes shortly after it was announced that the fighter has landed a fight with a new opponent and it will take place on the 16th of November.

His promoters, now under heavy pressure to land him a fitting opponent, ventured all avenues to give him what he deserves. And they did it.
