Deontay Wilder is in a tough spot. The former champion was dethroned by Tyson Fury and defeated him again in their trilogy. Many felt his best days were behind him. Moreover, things exacerbated for him this past weekend. He suffered a devastating defeat against Joseph Parker in a unanimous decision and his title aspirations were shattered. With this defeat, a fight against Anthony Joshua ends up in jeopardy.

Moreover, the boxer now happens to be 38 years old and the fans question if he will retire. Not to mention, there were rumors about the same spreading around in the boxing world. In a recent turn of events, Wilder reveals his aspiration to become a world champion still exists and asserts that he would be a two-time world champion. In addition, despite his performance, ‘The Bronze Bomber,’ thinks that his power has a resurgence now and does not foresee anybody standing a chance against him in the squared circle. Moreover, he reveals that he is in a great spot mentally.

Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I’ve got to find my killer instinct back. I’m too at peace, I’m too happy. When I had that dog in me, nobody had a chance… I will be a two-time heavyweight world champion.” 

One may have distinct opinions about his bold statements. However, his mental fortitude cannot be denied but at the same time, his vehement aggression or passion for the sport might have abated.

Deontay Wilder gets candid about his boxing career

In the post-fight interview, Wilder got candid and revealed that he is no longer the fighter that he once was because the circumstances in his life have changed. At the same time, he considers if there is more fight left in him without giving a decisive answer.

In addition, he confesses that he is a lot more content and is unsure of what lies ahead for him.  He stated, “I’m a happy fighter. I’ll be back, and if not, then it’s been a pleasure. I don’t know [if I still have the same fire I used to], a lot has calmed me down.”
