In a battle that seemed close on paper but turned into one-sided domination, Terence Crawford secured his place in boxing history by claiming a decisive victory over Errol Spence Jr. The welterweight clash witnessed ‘Bud’s prowess as he delivered three knockdowns, ultimately leading to a commanding ninth-round TKO. While the outcome was clear, the saga between these two fighters might not be over just yet.

With the dust still settling from their recent encounter, Spence Jr. faces the decision of whether to activate the rematch clause. In addition, Spence’s trainer Derrick James feels that his pupil will be far better in a rematch if it takes place. However, Crawford’s longtime trainer, Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, does not share the same opinion on this as James.

In a recent interview with FightHub, McIntyre was asked about Spence potentially using a rematch. However, McIntyre cautioned that attempting to go head-to-head with Crawford once more carries grave consequences. According to him while ‘The Truth’ would want to fight at 154 or above, this would not matter much due to the vast differences in skill.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be at 154 or 147, but I’m sure he’s going to push the weight up, potentially going for the rematch. But there’s gonna be no change in the decision. The performance is still going to be the same. It might be even a little bit better so he might want to watch out before he activates that rematch clause,” he said.

Although McIntyre’s analysis might seem a little harsh, this sentiment is also echoed by other trainers in the sport. Moreover, this includes former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s coach Malik Scott, who is also strongly opposed to a rematch at any weight between these two.

In an interview with FightHub, Scott showcased his skepticism for this bout. Scott’s stance is rooted in concern for Spence’s well-being, as he found their previous bout a ‘mismatch’. Moreover, he hopes to avoid witnessing a repeat of such a lopsided contest.

“Once they got in the ring, it was a mismatch. A mismatch that I don’t want to see again and that I don’t think should take place again. I’m not big on Crawford beating on Errol Spence like that again, or worse. I don’t want to see that.” he said
