Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not only left his mark on the sport but also cemented his position as one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. While a huge chunk of his earnings come from off the court, during his heydays, ‘Money’ Mayweather was one of the biggest draws in boxing. Moreover, his rise to billionaire status can largely be attributed to his groundbreaking PPV performances.

However, despite the overwhelming success of Mayweather’s PPV events, recent claims by MMA veteran Chael Sonnen have cast doubt on the credibility of these figures. ‘The Bad Guy’ recently came out with some bold accusations claiming that the numbers generated from his fights with Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao did not actually garner the PPV buys which were disclosed.

However, unfazed by the accusations, Mayweather has chosen to remind the world of his billionaire status by announcing an exclusive event.

Floyd Mayweather announces an event

The former champion took to social media and announced that he would be hosting an exclusive event. Moreover, the exclusive party will take place in one of his clubs in Las Vegas. This was not all as Mayweather also uploaded a video on his Instagram Story showcasing cash just lying on the floor. “It’s a movie every night at girl collection,” he wrote while showing off the money.

Although Mayweather has been under fire for his financial status for a long time, it is hard to deny his wealth. As the ‘face of boxing’, Mayweather has transcended the sport and created a larger-than-life persona. In addition, his recent announcement was only a reminder of the generational wealth he has garnered throughout his career.

The new gym in Cordova will occupy a space of over 3,200 square feet and is estimated to cost $150,000 for construction. Moreover, its design is being handled by Self+Tucker Architects. The franchise started in 2018 following Mayweather’s retirement from professional boxing. He collaborated with Burrel Lee Wilks III and James Williams to create the franchise. Since its inception, Mayweather Boxing+Fitness has experienced rapid growth, with the first location opening in 2019. The brand now boasts 78 gyms across 22 states, with more than 20 additional locations currently in development. This only proves that Floyd Mayweather is no amateur when it comes to business and has proved why he is still one of the richest boxers in the world.
