The duo came in front of each other during the official press conference of the event. Since both fighters were in the same building, PBC decided to do a green screen face-off before the press conference so that they could put together promotional material like posters for the bout. While talking to Fight Hub TV after the shoot, David Benavidez accepted that it was his first time doing a green screen face-off. “It was actually kind of new I’ve never done a face-off from the green screen, but we did it,” admitted the 27-year-old. He said this exchange was inevitable, considering the tension and expectations brewing for the past few days.
The animosity between the duo was evident, and none of them held back during the shoot. While Morrell promised to give Benavidez his first career defeat, the Mexican Monster has plans of his own. The 29-0 boxer revealed that he threatened Morrell during the face-off and stated, “I told him I was going to break his mouth and I was going to take his belt and beat the s**t out of him.”
Even though the pair got into a ” good old fashioned trash talk,” Benavidez respects the confidence shown by the WBA regular champion. The 27-year-old thinks this fight will prove to the world that he stands at the top of this division.

David Benavidez craves challenges
Benavidez previously defeated Caleb Plant and Demetrius Andrade in the Super Middleweight division. But even then he was not able to secure a match with Canelo Alvarez and decided to move up to the light-heavyweight division to fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk. He successfully defeated Gvozdyk via a unanimous decision to secure the interim title.
On the other hand, David Morrell took the same route and moved up from super middleweight to light heavyweight in August this year. Just like Benavidez, he also secured a victory via a unanimous decision against Radivoje Kalajdzic.
