“I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it,” KSI declared recently on the Ariel Helwani Show to sum up his frustration on fighting former Bellator star Dillon Danis next. But why? Well, the Misfits co-owner had announced his return to the squared circle last month. In a heated segment at the last Misfits Boxing event, KSI confronted former Manchester City soccer star Wayne Bridge to set up a fight on the next Misfits event on March 29. The announcement was quite odd and left former UFC star Darren Till infuriated.

After all, Till made his boxing debut and defeated Misfits regular Anthony Taylor in the event. Till was eagerly hoping to get a shot at the British YouTuber next. However, after Bridge opted out of the fight, the London native was left without an opponent. In a surprising and shocking update, it was announced that controversial MMA star Dillon Danis would be stepping in opposite KSI instead. So once again, why not Darren Till? Well, KSI decided to reveal why he chose to settle on Danis in the end.

KSI’s tryst with UFC stars

The London native accepted the fact that the fight against Danis does not seem so tempting. After all, ‘El Jefe’ has only fought once before in the squared circle, in a losing effort against Logan Paul. On top of that, the constant controversies attached to Danis’ name don’t help. However, despite being aware of everything, the Misfits co-owner was left without options. “You guys always say that my opponents have been terrible but how many people pull out? I don’t think you understand how many people pull out of fighting me,” lamented KSI in a clip shared on his YouTube channel.

Expectedly, the former Bellator star was not the first choice to replace Bridge. If it was up to ‘JJ,’ he would have never made the fight. Before even considering Danis, “We went to Nate Diaz. He said no. We went to Donald Cerrone. He said no. We went to Tony Ferguson. He said no,” revealed KSI emphatically. Misfits even “went to (Jorge) Masvidal to fight. He can’t do it because of the UFC.” And even though his team has “been trying to find people to fight” he could find no viable option. Hence, had to settle for Dillon Danis.

This is what left Till puzzled, especially considering the former UFC star has revealed his desire to face the Misfits co-owner multiple times. However, despite being out of options, KSI never considered him. As @mma_orbit shared the clip from the interview, Till reacted with just, “😒,” conveying his disappointment at being overlooked.

Well, he didn’t have to wait much as the London native revealed his reason on why he avoided Darren Till. And once again, the Liverpool native was not impressed.

What’s your perspective on:

Is KSI dodging Darren Till, or is the weight difference a legitimate concern for the fight?

Have an interesting take?

Darren Till too big, huh?

It looks like KSI has a reason for not considering ‘The Gorilla’ as an opponent. “I know you guys are going to be like ‘What about Darren Till?” he stated. However, it looks like ‘The Nightmare,’ at least in his mind, has a perfectly valid reason to avoid the fight. “Darren Till probably isn’t going to want to fight at my fight weight and then if he does, he’s not going to want to do the rehydration clause. Because brother is huge compared to me,” exclaimed KSI, focusing on the huge weight discrepancy between them.

He claimed, “I walk around at what 190, 195. Darren Till walks around at 220,” which would give him a huge disadvantage. Similar to what he faced against Tommy Fury in 2023. “I’m not going to allow him to do what Tommy Fury did. Just kill himself to get to a certain weight, go on the scale, and then balloon right back up to his natural weight,” exclaimed the Sidemen member. The fight against Fury was a huge mismatch where KSI was completely outclassed and suffered a unanimous decision loss. A loss after which he took a sabbatical from boxing for a year. “So guess what ladies and gentlemen? It’s Dillon Danis,” as he does not want to go through that again.

Till once again reacted with “😒,” on the interview clip posted by @IfnBoxing. While Till started his career as a welterweight, where he even had a championship match in 2018. He moved up to middleweight for a healthier and more comfortable fighting weight in the later parts of his career. He made his boxing debut at a catchweight of 190lbs, which is quite similar to where KSI has fought in his career. So, the argument does not make much sense.
