Can Daniel Dubois' raw power really topple Anthony Joshua, or is he just dreaming big?

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois is going to be like an earthquake which the whole world will see while staying still. This fight on September 21 will mark the return of Joshua at Wembley Stadium since 2018. He would like to defend his IBF Heavyweight title against his fellow countryman Dubois successfully. On the other hand, Dubois knows that he might get an opportunity like this again and the ‘Dynamite’ is ready to blow off.

The event will mark the debut of the Riyadh season in the UK and both of these fighters will have a big responsibility to deliver. Ahead of the fight week, both Dubois and Joshua opened up about the fight and while AJ had a calm and composed approach towards the fight, Dubois had something else planned. The Greenwich resident has no plans to go easy against his fellow Londoner and wants the IBF World heavyweight championship at all costs, and he wants to do it in the only way he knows.

A week before the fight, Sky Sports interviewed both fighters about the fight and asked about their strategy for this fight. Dubois looked completely focused on the event and plans to communicate through his punches. As the interviewer asked about how will he “get the better of AJ?” The Greenwich resident wasted no time in stating that he would attack as soon as the bell rang. “Punch him in the head fast. Crack him,” replied Dubois, wanting to finish the fight in the early rounds.

The interviewer persisted and asked Dubois to “give us a little insight on how will you go about things?” But the 6’5 feet boxer was in no mood to talk or he just wanted to keep the strategy hidden as he stated, “No Words, Just Punches,” in a slightly devious manner. But by this interaction, it is clear that this fight will be deadly and the winner must have to dive deep into his conscience.

If it was any other boxer, this strategy of just punches might not have worked. But there is a reason Daniel Dubois is called ‘Dynamite.’ Former British professional boxer Richie Woodhall explained why this strategy sounds solid for the challenger.

Daniel Dubois: Best jab in heavyweight division

According to Woodhall, Dubois’ “jab is the best jab in the Heavyweight division today…by far!” In the AJ v Dubois: The Breakdown on TNT Sport, the former WBC super-middleweight champion further explained that most boxers use the jab as a way to set up their back punch. But “Daniel’s jab is a hurtful punch. It is not just a point scorer, it’s actually knocking heavyweights backwards. That is some jab.” He further added that the timing and precision of these jabs make it ten times more effective.

This analysis becomes more accurate when you consider the fact that Dubois has won 20 fights via knockout and only 1 has gone to decision. Having 95% of your career win via knockout puts you in a league above everyone else and very few have that kind of power. Both are knockout artists, and Joshua is not far behind Dubois; he proved himself during the mere 2-round KO win against Francis Ngannou. Both these fighters are in the best shape of their lives and the fight between these two giants is going to be bloody.
