Daniel Dubois feels ready for the task—to challenge the biggest names in the division. While the British boxer has a few options, he targets the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2. Why so? Because he wants to claim the much-coveted, undisputed heavyweight crown.

Dubois, 27, witnessed an upturn in fortunes this year, as he handed defeats to Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua and got elevated as the IBF champion after the sanctioning body decided to strip Usyk, 37, as he decided to pursue the Fury rematch. However, it also sets in motion an alternative route for ‘Triple D’ to unify the belts next year. And he has made his intentions known for it.

Dubois, at 22-2, expressed his emotions about Usyk vs. Fury 2 in a conversation with Sky Sports. Many fans still remember the controversial low-blow incident in his fight with Usyk. If the latter comes out as the winner, it will set up a huge revenge match for him. The IBF champion said, “I’m coming for their belts. The top guys, I want them. If it’s Usyk, then it will be revenge.”

But in the likely case of ‘Gypsy King’ coming on top, Dubois would happily take the fight. The London native is currently only keen on making bigger fights as he enters his prime. He continued, “Or of it’s Fury, I’m ready to cover that territory as well. We’ll deal with it when we get there. I have got some big fights lined up.”

So, Dubois is focused on living the undisputed dream, but he might have to wait for it. That’s why he even decided to defend his IBF gold strap early next year and keep himself aligned with the Usyk vs. Fury 2 victor’s comeback schedule. But what if that doesn’t happen?

Daniel Dubois: the Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury conundrum

The straight way for ‘Dynamite’ to have his dream fight is if Usyk replicates his performance from May when he handed Fury a close decision defeat. Then Dubois would only need to brush aside Joseph Parker in their scheduled fight for February 22. Parker, 32, is fourth in the ladder of heavyweight hierarchy, and a win for both Usyk and Dubois sets up two fights—Usyk vs. Dubois 2 and Fury vs. Joshua.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Daniel Dubois dethrone the giants of boxing, or is he biting off more than he can chew?

However, if Fury wins it, Dubois is not certain about being his next opponent. The 34-1-1 could have his pick from an already growing list of top contenders in the heavyweight division and even entertain a fight with ‘AJ,’ if the latter bounces back and sets up an all-British affair with him. But only time will tell whether the stars will align for Dubois to fight for undisputed glory next year.
