Whatever opinion one entertains about the Jake Paul–Mike Tyson fight, one thing is for sure: with a record live gate and stream, ‘The Problem Child’ and his business of boxing have become hot properties. Leave alone other YouTube or crossover boxers, some of the reigning professional champions also seem to have understood the kind of opportunities a Jake Paul fight presents. No wonder one after another prominent name has been calling out the Ohioan.
Continuing on his winning streak, on November 15, Jake Paul bagged the year’s third win by defeating 58-year-old Mike Tyson unanimously. Perspectives about the fight may reveal a clear divide. Nevertheless, with an array of fantastic bouts, including the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, the whole MVP-Netflix emerged as one of the year’s standout events. In the aftermath of the event’s success, after Artur Beterbiev and Gervonta Davis, Daniel Dubois joined the hustle and called out Paul.

Like ‘The Problem Child’, Dubois touched an all-time career high this year. On September 21, a high-octane Riyadh Season card at Wembley saw him stage one of the year’s biggest upsets. In front of 96, 000 fans and supporters, ‘Triple D’ knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round and retained the IBF title.

“Hi Jake,” said Daniel Dubois in his message to Jake Paul. “Good business on the weekend, but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? This is Daniel Dubois calling you out; let’s get it on,” he added further.
The invite attracted a terse response: “Get in line,” said Jake Paul. But later, reminding how Dubois once fought on the undercard of his first fight against Tyron Woodley, he tweeted, “Man has been boxing for 12 years, has over 100 fights between amateur and pro, and fought on my undercard… hahaha, but f**k it. I’m going to have Nakisa talk to Frankie Warren and get you in line for the throne. Unlike Artur, at least you have a few thousand fans.”

Jake Paul and the boxing champions
Out of the blue, Jake Paul received a message. “Jake Paul, what can you do in ring against the current undisputed champion? Just know that I’m always open to suggestions,” said the light heavyweight division’s newly crowned undisputed champion, Artur Beterbiev. In a fight that delighted boxing purists, in a career-first, he went the whole distance and defeated the highly skilled Dmitry Bivol by a majority decision.

Finding his stakes at an all-time high, an amused Jake Paul laughed. His career broke boundaries in four years. Over a series of Instagram stories (later deleted), Gervonta Davis slammed Jake Paul for fighting 30-year-old senior Mike Tyson. He would ‘beat the brakes off Jake when I catch em’, the lightweight champion reportedly mentioned. During the post-fight presser, when asked about ‘Tank’s callout, Paul sounded a bit enthusiastic but didn’t hesitate to ask if there were any limits to ‘heights’ in boxing.

Otherwise, Jake Paul seems to have set his sights on a Canelo Alvarez match. But with a rider: it will be a 200-pound cruiserweight bout. Many fans were likely surprised to see so many champions calling out a YouTuber-turned-boxer. Nonetheless, they can expect new developments to unfold in the coming weeks.
What’s your take? Given his heavyweight fight with Mike Tyson, does a fight between Jake Paul and Daniel Dubois make sense for a compelling matchup?
