Major disappointing news has come in for Curmel Moton fans. The fighter has revealed that his next scheduled fight has been canceled. As he relayed the disappointing news, he also informed on his social media as to when he would be seen in the ring next.

It was earlier reported by boxing reporter, Michael Benson that Floyd Mayweather’s protege would be fighting his 4th pro fight on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia card. The event was scheduled for the 4th of May on the Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas. On his social media, Moton had outlined his preparations for the fight through multiple training videos. However, while the venue and date of the event were all set, the name of his opponent was still kept under wraps.

Now, days ahead of the fight, the fighter has confirmed that the scheduled fight has now fallen through. He also highlighted that he will, however, return to the ring the next month in June. On his X feed, he revealed the shocking news, noting, “Unfortunately I will not be fighting next weekend on the 4th, I appreciate all of your support except me back in June I promise to put on a show.”

The Las Vegas-based fighter was last seen in the ring in March. He went against his 21-year-old opponent, Anthony Cuba. The fight was placed in the undercard of the Sebastian Fundora vs. Tim Tszyu Amazon Prime PPV card. The fight was initially not set for live showing. However, a night ahead of the fight, it was pushed for streaming. The 8-round fight stretched to his entire course, with the 17-year-old boxer winning it on points, unlike his last two fights that gave him victories through knockouts.

While the Canelo-Munguia card would have been a big deal for the fighter, it remains to be seen on which card he will find himself in June. Will he headline his own event this time around? Unlikely. However, we do have some updates on his potential trajectory toward the championships.
