Canadian fighter, Cody Crowley’s next fight is on the horizon. In early reports, a fight between the Canadian fighter and Souleymane Cissokho is slated to happen. France-based promotional company, All Star Boxing, has won the fight bid. Details of the potential matchup were outlined by the WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman.

Crowley is set to enter the ring a little more than a year since his last outing. In March last year, he faced off against Abel Ramos in a Las Vegas fight. He won the dramatic showdown on a majority decision. Cissokho, on the other hand, fights after his November clash against Isaias Lucero, which he completely dominated, winning it on points. If a fight between the welterweights Crowley and Cissokho is finalized, it would be crucial since their undefeated status would be put at risk, thus furthering their boxing records.

While a date and location for their matchup is not yet finalized, Sulaiman notified that the eliminator will be big for the fighters in terms of money. As per WBC rules, out of the $47,777.70 winning bid, both of them will earn $214,999.65 each as the two highest-ranked WBC welterweight contenders just below Terence Crawford. Additionally, the winner among them will get the remaining 10% of the bid as a winning bonus. The WBC prez posted these details on his X profile.

Earlier, the IBF ordered a title eliminator between ‘The Crippler’ Crowley and Ekow Essuman. The bid hearing was held last September. While Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions bid $63,000 as the only participant, the fighter’s team notified that he would not be going ahead with the clash. Despite that, he emerged as the IBF’s mandatory challenger, a possible opponent, at the time, for the IBF champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

A purse bid for the title challenge was delayed twice and later canceled. The body reportedly received no further clarification except that both he and Boots decided so in a mutual agreement. Speculation suggested that their fight would feature on May 4th on PBC’s main card of Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia. However, the fight failed to materialize and Crowley chose to move on to other opponents.

The two teams now remain confident that Cissokho, the 32-year-old, French fighter, will now honor the WBC’s fight order given his local promotion company has won the bid. However, it remains to seen if southpaw, Crowley will also nod in affirmation for the fight. Which do you think is the best choice for him, Cissokho or Boots Ennis?
