Ever wondered how much celebrities spend on jet fuel—or how much pollution they have caused through their private jets? The answers might shock you! In a world increasingly focused on sustainability, the environmental impact of private jets is nothing short of staggering. Recent studies reveal that private jets emit around 15.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, significantly contributing to environmental harm.

To put that into perspective, private jets account for roughly 1.8% of the total carbon emissions from commercial aviation, with each private flight averaging 3.6 metric tons of CO2 per trip. This may seem small in percentage terms, but the per-passenger emissions are drastically higher compared to commercial flights. So, what’s the damage when it comes to celebrities like Floyd Mayweather, Taylor Swift, and others? This list dives into the jaw-dropping CO2 emissions from their private jets—and the staggering amounts they’ve spent on jet fuel.

Kim Kardashian

Let’s kick off this list with a celebrity (not including other wealthy personalities) who has clocked the most miles via private jet—according to the Celebrity Private Jet Tracker. You’ve likely seen her name in headlines covering everything from fashion to controversies, but in March of this year, Kim Kardashian faced accusations of “eco-terrorism.” Why? She racked up more than 30 flights on her private jet since January 1—including a jaw-dropping five flights in a single day and multiple 10-minute journeys.

Despite the growing backlash, Kim’s short-haul jet-setting hasn’t slowed down. In March, the Daily Mail reported that the 44-year-old’s private jet had made 15 trips under 40 minutes in 2024 alone, with eight of those flights lasting less than 15 minutes in the air.

Fast forward to December 2024: how far has she traveled? According to Celebrity Private Jet Tracker, Kim has flown 419,532 miles over 236 flights, spending a total of 39 days, 16 hours, and 7 minutes in the air. The environmental cost? Her jet emitted a staggering 4,701 metric tons of CO2—a number that underscores the ecological impact of private aviation.

Now, let’s talk money. According to data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, with jet fuel priced at a minimum of $2.33 per gallon, and Kim consuming 464,320 gallons of fuel, she has spent over $10.8 million on jet fuel alone for her ‘Kim Air.’

P. Diddy

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs ranks just below Kardashian in terms of private jet use, thanks to his Gulfstream G550, known as ‘LoveAir.’ Despite facing numerous lawsuits and currently sitting in jail following his September arrest and indictment on federal charges including racketeering conspiracy, s** trafficking, and transportation for prostitution, recent reports suggest that his jet is available for charter.

Since Combs’ arrest, ‘LoveAir’ has completed 30 flights, reaching destinations like French Polynesia, New Zealand, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Baja, Mexico, according to JetSpy data.

Chartering his jet appears to be an attempt to make some quick cash grab for the embattled mogul, but the environmental impact of its extensive travel is undeniable. According to Celebrity Private Jet Tracker, LoveAir has flown 415,139 miles over 308 flights, totaling 42 days, 19 hours, and 46 minutes in the air.

In terms of fuel, the jet has consumed 383,360 gallons, resulting in the emission of 5,154 metric tons of CO2. On top of this, Combs has spent over $8.9 million on jet fuel for all his travels since purchasing the aircraft.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, another celebrity facing accusations of environmental harm due to her frequent private jet travel, previously owned two private jets, the Dassault Falcon 900LX and Dassault Falcon 7X. She reportedly sold the Falcon 900LX to a Missouri-based car insurance company in January 2024.

Swift has long been criticized for her air travel, with various reports highlighting the significant CO2 emissions generated by her flights. A 2022 report from Rolling Stone revealed that Swift’s jet flew 170 times between January 1 and July 19, accumulating 22,923 minutes—or 15.9 days—in the air, contributing an estimated 8,293.54 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Despite the backlash, Swift’s jet usage hasn’t slowed. According to Celebrity Private Jet Tracker, her Dassault Falcon 900, which was sold, completed 41 flights, traveling 40,513 miles, consuming 26,470 gallons of fuel, and emitting 356 metric tons of CO2 over 3 days, 20 hours, and 33 minutes of flight time. This equates to roughly $61,000 spent on fuel for just that jet.

In addition to the Falcon 900, Swift’s second jet, the Dassault Falcon 7X, traveled 91,890 miles over 80 flights, consuming 70,420 gallons of fuel and generating 830 metric tons of CO2 emissions, with a total flight time of 9 days, 4 hours, and 39 minutes. Meaning she spent $1.6 million on jet fuel in the second jet. It’s important to note that other sources report even higher figures for her emissions.

Floyd Mayweather

Like Taylor Swift, retired boxer Floyd Mayweather owns two private jets, but unlike Swift, he hasn’t sold either of them. His first, a Gulfstream G650 named Air Mayweather, was purchased in 2014 for $50 million. Earlier this year, he added a second jet, a Gulfstream IV, dubbed Air Mayweather 2. Mayweather often showcases these multi-million-dollar purchases on social media, taking great pride in them.

Last year, one of his jets was used to transport supplies to the war-torn country of Israel to aid both the military and the people. However, his commitment to helping others doesn’t extend to the environment, as he continues to fly frequently. While his travel stats aren’t as high as others on this list, Mayweather has certainly accumulated significant mileage on his jets.

The travel details for Mayweather’s first jet remain unavailable, but Celebrity Private Jet Tracker provides data for his second jet. Mayweather’s Air Mayweather 2 has flown 83,740 miles over 89 flights, consuming an eye-watering 108,230 gallons of jet fuel and emitting 1,462 metric tons of CO2. These flights span a total of 10 days, 1 hour, and 53 minutes.

In terms of jet fuel costs, Mayweather’s spending is staggering. He has spent over $2.5 million on fuel for just his second jet alone, with the total amount likely much higher when factoring in his first jet.

That said, it’s not just these celebrities who contribute to carbon emissions with their frequent private jet travel. In fact, topping the list of highest carbon emissions (among celebrities and others) is former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, with a staggering 7,106 metric tons of CO2 emissions, 612,578 miles traveled over 493 flights, and the consumption of 711,040 gallons of jet fuel.

Clearly, it’s not just a celebrity issue. If these individuals opted for commercial flights instead of private jets, emissions, fuel consumption, and overall environmental impact would significantly decrease. The list also includes high-profile figures like Elon Musk in second place, along with Travis Scott, Jay-Z, and others. What are your thoughts on the matter?
