Finally, the world has its first undisputed heavyweight champion after two plus decades! Last weekend in Saudi Arabia, Oleksandr Usyk outboxed Tyson Fury to achieve the highest status in the sport. And now, the whole world is talking about the historic event! However, one voice has been louder than the others. It’s none other than Conor McGregor

For the most part, McGregor has attended most of the big events in Saudi, however, this time, he was absent from the venue. Regardless, he had a few things to say about the astronomical showdown, mainly about the rematch during a KICK live stream. From the beginning, Fury and Usyk had a rematch clause in their contract, which could transpire sometime in October. Usyk, a man of his words, has already agreed to give Fury the rematch he deserves, but the question is, what does ‘The Notorious’ think about it?

As McGregor’s live stream started, one fan asked the UFC champion about his thoughts on the undisputed clash in Riyadh. To this, the former champion exploded with admiration for both fighters. He said, “What a bout! What an absolute bout! I thought Usyk boxed incredibly. And Tyson is such a big formidable opponent.”

Turning to the potential rematch between them, McGregor expanded in four words: “Rematch would be interesting.” However, he hastened to express his opinion about why he thinks Usyk is the obvious winner in his books. “I felt every shot Usyk threw hit the flesh, hit the body, hit the head, the crown, hit everything. Whereas Fury’s shots hit more guard. They hit the guard or there were slight blocks,” McGregor said.

McGregor isn’t far off here! Right from the first bell, Usyk took control of the fight and stayed on the front foot, pushing Fury back. Yep, Fury did come back in the third round and kept the momentum going for a while, but even then, he failed to transfer significant damage. Whereas, Usyk was active and kept damaging Fury throughout. Usyk really came alive after the seventh round, which led to the close knockdown in the ninth.

Still, McGregor underscored that while Usyk’s dominance in this bout is evident, it’s crucial to recognize that a rematch could yield entirely different results. While McGregor is all for a rematch, Eddie Hearn has also shared his opinion on a potential rematch.

English promoter highlights there’s a lot of money to be made!

Few hours ago, Matchroom Boxing’s official YouTube channel shared Hearn’s extensive reaction to Oleksandr Usyk’s win. Fury’s loss especially benefits Hearn, more importantly his fighter Anthony Joshua, as a fight between them after the loss makes complete sense. That’s because both Fury and Joshua have recorded one loss at the hands of the Ukrainian.

So, speaking about the fight, Hearn congratulated both fighters, highlighting even though Fury showed a lot of heart “the right man won.” Hearn went as far as to say that Fury was ahead until the seventh round, after which the fight took a different direction.

Also, reflecting on Tyson’s standing ten count, Hearn said, “I couldn’t believe that he didn’t go down, he was absolutely gone.” Meanwhile, when asked about a rematch between the heavyweights, Hearn stated, “I mean so much could happen. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about, ‘great time for Usyk to retire,’ it’s very kind of them. But also there’s a lot of money to be made in a rematch.”

It hasn’t even been a week since the undisputed clash concluded in Riyadh, and pundits can’t seem to stop talking about the rematch. Something that isn’t impossible, given both parties are in agreement with it. The only question is, when in October? And if it does happen, who do you think will win?
