Is Conor Benn's trash talk just hype, or can he really take down Chris Eubank Jr.?

Conor Benn has taken the boxing world by storm. He is itching for a fight and has zeroed in on Chris Eubank Jr. The two share an intense rivalry, which has only increased with time and has now reached a tipping point. It was no surprise that the British boxer was in attendance at Kingdom Arena but no one expected him to enter the ring and create a ruckus. But if former IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch is to be believed, he could be biting more than what he can chew.

Benn, 28, interrupted Eubank Jr.’s celebrations, as the latter had just put aside Kamil Szeremeta with ease. However, that didn’t impress Benn, at 23-0, who then slammed the victor and cautioned him, “You looked s**t in there tonight! You can’t fight me like that. You’ll get done in three rounds.”

These antics attracted the attention of Froch, 47, who knew Benn outside the boxing world. He shared his unfiltered take on his ‘Froch on Fighting’ YouTube channel. He said, “I know him [Conor Benn] and I have met him a few times. He’s a really nice guy.” But ‘The Cobra’ also highlighted how Benn hadn’t fought any quality opponent in the recent past, contrary to his trash-talking, and sent him a warning.

Froch continued, “But he hasn’t fought anyone. And he’s talking like a killer, talking like it will be a mismatch. I understand he has to sell the fight. But be careful what you wish for. Eubank Jr is tough.”

What’s more? Benn had also shoved Eubank Jr. during the latter’s recent weigh-ins in Riyadh. They were supposed to clash back in 2022, but the fight was called off after Benn tested positive for clomifene. Since then, the Greenwich native has been unable to compete in the UK and has only fought in the U.S. However, it appears he may soon get the fight he’s been eagerly seeking.

Chris Eubank Jr. puts Conor Benn on the hit list

In a conversation with IFL TV, Eubank Jr. expressed his intention to “squash” Benn. The 35-year-old boxer also admitted HE Turki Alalshikh was eager for the fight and therefore, the fight would happen soon. He declared, “Conor Benn is next on the hit list. I wanna squash this kid, man. I wanna get him out of boxing… Turki [Alalshikh] wants that fight. So the fight’s gonna happen.”

He added, “I want to beat him so badly that he doesn’t want to ever fight again. This sport has no place for cheats.” However, the 34-3 record holder also laid down a condition for the fight- Benn getting back his license. It remains to be seen when that happens. But Eubank Jr signing a new deal with BOXXER could be an encouraging sign for the fans wanting this fight.
