Conor Benn has asked a number from Gervonta Davis to get a fight between them rolling. The English fighter has now, clapped back at Davis as the latter claims to receive a fight offer by Benn’s promoter that was not what he deserved.
Earlier this month, Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn sent a fight offer across the ocean to Davis’ representatives. In response, the Baltimore-based fighter felt the number was ‘insulting’. Disappointed, the English promoter in media noted that he offered ‘Tank’ a staggering $25 million. Denying the same, the lightweight came down heavy at the fighter-promoter duo, with bills to substantiate his argument. While his anger was quite evident in this fiasco, Benn too has doubled down on these emotions. It is uncertain if they will fight anytime soon. However, their battle on the internet is as lethal as it could get.
“U beat” who?

On his X, 27-year-old, ‘The Destroyer’ responded to ‘Tank’ who claimed that Hearn was “cheating” him out of his money. Benn wrote, “U will beat the dog sh*t outta you…Calm down you little angry stumpy man. If you feel low balled tell your daddy Al to make me a counter offer and I’ll fight you in America and knock your head clean off and then you’ll be 2 foot 2.”
However, the highlight of this trash-talk was perhaps not the counter offer Benn sought from his American counterpart. In his post, now deleted, Tank had noted, “U will beat the dog sh*t outta you..we all know this! I was just trying to be good for the sport and beat ya a** in ya home town but the spoon fed white boy keep trying to cheat me outta my f*cking money b*tch.” On the flip side, Benn took a swipe at the fallacy Tank made in his post. Perhaps, Tank meant, “I will beat the dog sh*t outta you?”
Earlier to this volatile exchange of words, Tank leaked screengrabs of the email Hearn had sent to his team. In it, Hearn offered a May fight, headlining in the US. “We would offer $10million plus an upside on the gate and PPV that I would like to discuss further with you,” he further mentioned. His efforts to prove that the British promoter was lying about the $25 million offer were rebutted by Benn’s argument that “upward” meant anything above $10 million.

23-0, Benn is coming fresh off his on-points, victory over Peter Dobson. Gervonta Davis, on the other hand, has a fight against Frank Martin scheduled for late spring/ early summer under PBC. This will be his big return to the ring after being away for almost a year, after his Ryan Garcia victory, last April.
While a significant weight divide exists between Benn and Davis, why is the former’s team pushing for it to take place? Promoter Hearn reveals the reason.

To FightHype, talking in detail about the $25 million offer, 44-year-old Hearn also noted why he’s pushing for a Benn vs. Davis clash. Noting that Tank has already once gone up the weight, Hearn sidelined weight to be an issue for the fight. Above everything, it is because a Benn vs. Tank fight would be an immediate hit. However, the question remains who would transition weights and to what extent?
He explained, “Tank’ has already boxed at 141 [pounds], by the way, ‘Tank’ is a big favorite against Conor Benn. So I quite like Conor having an extra, what might be four or five pounds, because it’s a very dangerous fight.” In 2021, against welterweight, Mario Barrios, Tank won in an 11th-round TKO, giving the Texan, a cut under his left eye.
