While Conor Benn’s boxing career in the UK continues to remain uncertain, he’s moving ahead toward bagging his next fight in the US. In fresh developments, the fighter has teased yet another big fight. Will this one come to fruition?
Earlier, in late March, reports suggested that the British fighter had faced a major setback in his ongoing tussle with the BBBofC and the UK Anti-doping (UKAD). The bodies succeeded in challenging the NADP’s previous decision to lift the temporary ban placed on him in light of his doping fiasco last year. Today, it seems like the fighter is not letting the development stagnate his developing boxing career.
On Instagram, the 27-year-old fighter posted a story outlining a potential showdown with none other than IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. He uploaded a poster of the two fighters in the ring. The dramatic visual gave potential answers to pertinent questions fans had regarding his next in-ring stint. Boxing reporter, Michael Benson archived the story on his X.

While no confirmation has come from Boots, it marks an important detour from reports that had emerged earlier. Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that a fight between his boxer and Gervonta Davis was almost a “done” deal. In response to Benn’s callout, ‘Tank’ too seemed interested in a potential fight. On social media, Davis wrote, “You doing too much talking now..stfu and get to work, see you soon.”
His attempt to challenge both Tank and Boots comes at a time when the fighter is chasing some big-league fights. Meanwhile, ‘The Destroyer’s’ impending clash against Chris Eubank Jr. continues to be anticipated by many. It fell apart in light of the fighter testing positive for a banned substance, Clomifene in two VADA tests. While that fight could have been significant for Benn, Hearn had earlier revealed that he envisions it taking place in all its English sensibilities in the UK. Therefore, Tank and Boots appear to be a more viable option. However, the negotiations with Tank came to a halt after he turned down the offer sent to him by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
‘The Destroyer ’ was last seen in the ring against Peter Dobson in a Las Vegas fight in February. The highly watched bout saw him win on points, in a fashion that seemed quite easy to him. Since then, he’s been on the lookout for a befitting opponent, that could elevate his status in the weight division.
