Floyd Mayweather calls for random blood and urine tests to prevent cheating

In a press conference leading up to his next exhibition bout, Mayweather stated that to even the playing field in the sport, fighters needed to randomly have blood and urine tests conducted, including himself. According to him, this will make the sport fairer and will help fighters compete fairly and showcase their talents.

I just always want competitors, fighters that’s in this brutal sport to always be able to in an even playing field. So that’s why I said random blood and urine tests even for myself. To let everyone know that if we’re on the same even playing field in this and it’s even. I’m gonna show you that my skill level is way above your skill” he said.

Mayweather certainly wants the sport to be cleaned up for future fighters to benefit. Moreover, this was not all as his statement struck a chord with the fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this proposal by reacting to the video.

Floyd Mayweather’s random test proposal draws wild reactions from fans

A user named MC Dry Elbows claimed that Conor Benn would be laughing after hearing this proposal. “Conor Benn is cracking up,” he wrote.

Another fan also took shots at Benn referring to his scandal, with Clomiphene normally used as a fertility drug. “Some boxers are out here trying to get pregnant floyd…” he wrote.

Moreover, one fan praised Mayweather and stated that Benn would never be the fighter ‘Money’ was. “This is the all time great fighter Benn will never be no matter how many eggs he consumes…” he wrote.

A fan named Pac Man 22 felt that boxing was dying a slow death with PED usage becoming rampant. “Boxing is dying a slow death” he wrote.

Lastly, one fan boldly claimed that any form of cheating cannot be excused and has no place in the sport. “Cheating is cheating and has no place in sport.” he wrote.

The fans were quick to pinpoint Benn as the scapegoat as he recently became infamous following his failed tests. However, this problem has far deeper roots in the sport which does need some drastic changes in this department. Despite this, not all hope is lost with many doping agencies now gaining more and more leverage in the sport and catching fighters who cheat.
