After Mikaela Mayer lost to Natasha Jonas via a split decision yesterday, several entities from the boxing world claimed Mayer was a victim of unfair judgment. While Claressa Shields was taken by surprise, Lou DiBella declared that Jonas did not win in his eyes. Meanwhile, Chantelle Cameron wanted a rematch between the two.
On the other hand, Amanda Serrano also called for a rematch. At this, while Natasha Jonas’ victory raised eyebrows, CompuBox revealed stats that showed Jonas’ fight had better accuracy. Going by CompuBox, one can understand why the decision landed in the British boxer’s favor.

As per the CompuBox stats, when Natasha Jonas squared off against Mikaela Mayer, the latter attempted a total of 493 punches in the ring. But, she was able to land 149 of her punches on Jonas. On the other hand, Natasha Jonas threw a total of 312 punches. However, she landed 125 of them on Mayer. As a result, while Mayer landed 30.2% of her shots, Jonas landed 40.1% of the shots she attempted with the IBF Welterweight on the line.

As a result, being the more accurate boxer, Jonas received the decision in her favor against Mayer. On the other hand, it should be mentioned that Jonas also landed more body shots than Mayer did. Apart from 52 power punches, the 39-year-old landed 3 jabs to Mayer’s body. On the other hand, Mayer fell short by landing 38 body shots on Jonas.
Anyway, after the fight, Mikaela Mayer immediately spoke about rematching Jonas. Although she did not have a rematch clause on her side going into the bout, the 33-year-old hoped for a second fight as she believed she had done enough to win the contest.
Mayer and Jonas open to 3-minute rounds in their rematch
Following the end of the bout, in an interview with Sky Boxing, currently facing Matchroom’s lawsuit, Mikaela Mayer and Jonas declared they were open to three-minute rounds for the rematch. While Mayer wanted to fight Jonas for a 10*3 fight from the beginning, the IBF champion revealed she would like to get paid better if she were to labor for 10 three-minute rounds against Mayer in the rematch. “Yeah, definitely. It was never the first time around when I got the contract. I think Mikaela will understand that. Wanna get paid more for doing it,” said Jonas.
