The shocking assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump has become the biggest news topic globally. The gunman was a 20-year-old young man named Thomas Matthew Crooks. But it begs the question: How could a twenty-year-old youngster fool the US Secret Service? The bullet just grazed through Trump’s head as he tilted his head to the right, injuring his right ear. The former president swiftly took refuge behind the podium and waited for secret service personnel to step in. Fury questioned how the gunman managed to get so near to targeting Trump, despite the Secret Service’s excellent protection measures. In a post on X, Peter Fury wrote, “Crowds see the man on the roof , pointing him out to security for 2 /3 min do nothing , soon as shots fired then gun man is silenced , sorry killed! Collusion or a mad man ? Thank god Trumps ok.”

Fury raises the question of whether it was a planned attempt or just a madman who wanted to kill the former POTUS. When the gunman appeared, a few rally attendees noticed something out of the ordinary. Although they attempted to alert the security, it might have been too late because the rounds had already been fired.
The 78-year-old was attending a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last Saturday. After the shots were fired, the security quickly identified the gunman and neutralized him. As per reports, 9 bullets were fired in total, which killed 1 individual and injured 2 other people in the audience.

The gunman saw the cop who could have stopped the shooting
According to the Associated Press, the cops had already spotted Thomas Matthew Crooks crawling on the roof. One cop even climbed up the ladder to the roof, but he had to retreat as Crooks saw him and pointed his rifle at the cop who had to duck for cover. Reportedly, the 20-year-old was carrying his father’s AR-style rifle. As the officer retreated, Crooks immediately fired shots in Trump’s direction.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old suspected of shooting Donald Trump at Saturday’s rally, previously sought to join his high school rifle club but was rejected and asked not to return, students who were members of the team at the time told ABC News https://t.co/c9cKjNyrwS pic.twitter.com/KrB85xsDP1

The Secret Service snipers responded swiftly to the chaos caused by the gunfire by taking down the shooter. According to the officials, Crooks was operating alone, and his car contained components for building bombs as well.
