Is Jake Paul's victory over Mike Tyson a sign of the times or just a fluke?

Sensei Lawrence and Sensei LaRusso also know a thing or two about boxing. It seems their boxing knowledge is on par with their expertise in karate. It was all on display when Mike Tyson and Jake Paul took center stage and went at each other.

Tyson, 58, and Paul, 27, fought it out at the AT&T Stadium on November 15. The electrifying event had captured the imagination of many, as stars also took a seat and registered their presence in the crowd. Daddy Yankee could be seen taking pictures with Amanda Serrano. Joe Jonas was enjoying the event near the ringside. The trio of Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Lennox Lewis gave boxing fans some hilarious but warm moments to cherish. Now it seems the duo of co-stars, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, were deeply engrossed in the fight, too.

The pair starred in the original ‘Karate Kid’ movie in 1984 and are now teaching the new generation in its sequel series, ‘Cobra Kai’. In a recent video uploaded by Netflix, the fans could hear the duo dissecting the Tyson vs. Paul fight. A different camera angle picked up their conversation, as both rooted and cheered for ‘Iron Mike’. Macchio, who plays Daniel LaRusso, could be heard saying, “Come on, Mike.”

Zabka, who plays Johnny Lawrence, also cheered and tried to uplift the former world champion by shouting, “Let’s go, Mike. Come on, man.” Macchio, 63, then dished out an instruction for Tyson but also pointed out how Paul was throwing short jabs. He said, “Throw some, just get inside him. That’s easy to say, man. He [Jake Paul] is just doing these little short jabs.”

Zabka, 59, observed that ‘Problem Child’ was “controlling the ring.” Macchio then continued and detailed how the fight was being played out, which remained true for the whole fight. He declared, “Yeah, yeah… What’s not happening is when Paul throws, Mike doesn’t come. He doesn’t counter. Oops. Now he’s getting hit a little bit. That’s what I was hoping to see—his throwing and him go, baap, baap, like that. Like, like he used to. He just doesn’t want to get exposed to anything.”

Interestingly, the American actor seemed more passionate and hyped up for the fight, as he had previously picked up Tyson to bag the win. And he had an amusing reason for that. What was it?

Ralph Macchio sided with Mike Tyson: more than boxing credentials

In a conversation with Fight Hype, Macchio explained he would pick up Tyson over Paul. The two shared a bond and had met previously, and the heavyweight boxer had been generous with him. In addition, he explained their similarity in age, which nudged him to favor Tyson. He told the media, “I gotta lean Mike. I met Mike back in the day. We bumped into each other a few times. He always been a gentleman and I try to do the same, you know. I’m closer age to him than I am to [Jake Paul], so I’m rooting for not as young guy.”

However, Macchio’s prediction failed, as Paul left the arena with a win. But it was a great night for Macchio and Zabka. Not only did the co-stars watch their icon step inside the ring and put on a show, but they also found the perfect platform to promote the recently released season 6 part 2 of their popular web series. It’s streaming on Netflix, and the fans might have to wait a bit longer for the series’ conclusion next year.
