The much-anticipated exhibition fight between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III took an unexpected turn as chaos erupted inside the ring. The event, which was part of a Zeus Network partnership with ‘Money’, drew widespread attention for all the wrong reasons.

Mayweather’s seventh exhibition ended in mayhem after the referee Kenny Bayless stepped in to stop the fight in the sixth round. However, the situation quickly deteriorated when Gotti III unleashed a flurry of wild punches at Mayweather after the bell. The fighters’ entourages stormed the ring, triggering a chaotic scene that intensified the controversy surrounding the event.

The Mayweather-Gotti fight served as a platform for Zeus Network to enhance its brand and expand its consumer base. Initially, many believed that Zeus would simply stream the event to elevate its profile and diversify its content offerings. However, the reality turned out to be more nuanced as one of Mayweather’s close associates Jason Lee shared his thoughts on Zeus steaming the fight and the reality of the brawl.

Jason Lee comments on Zeus network’s brand elevation with Floyd Mayweather vs John Gotti III

In a recent episode of his podcast, Lee dived deep into the partnership between Zeus and Mayweather. The partnership aimed to provide viewers with a live event experience, showcasing a boxing match while incorporating the filming of other content.

Now, I didn’t talk to Floyd about what this partnership looked like, nor have I talked to Floyd after the fight about the fight. But I will say, it was more than what I thought it was. I thought it was Zeus just streaming it on Zeus Network as a way of elevating their brand and reaching different consumers and being able to really diversify the type of content they had on Zeus. That’s what I thought.” he said

This multifaceted approach highlighted the network’s ambition to create engaging and diverse entertainment for its audience. However, this even led many people to believe that the brawl which took place was staged, including former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen. Despite this, Lee has insisted that the events witnessed by viewers were genuine.

A couple of things I want to tell you all. This was a real situation, everything that you saw unfold on TV was real. This was not scripted, at least not the violence part. Let me get to that in a minute. This was a real situation because I spent a lot of time there before the fight and a little bit of time there after the fight” he added
