Claressa Shields will not take any more nonsense, so it seems. Taking umbrage at the suggestion Ryan Garcia made, the undisputed middleweight champion has rather challenged him into a duel. The Flint, Michigan, native called out the former interim lightweight champion after he suggested that she go on a date with Gervonta Davis (now Abdul Wahid). Only the WBA lightweight champion and Shields have been going at each other for the last couple of days.

In a move that has surprised many, the Baltimore southpaw openly supported Ryan Garcia. The latter, who reportedly failed to clear drug tests for PEDs, now finds himself in a fresh controversy following his win over Devin Haney. But Claressa Shields, as it appears, didn’t take too kindly to the new-found bonhomie between two boxers who fought a bitter battle some 12 months ago. Lashing out at ‘Tank’, she brought up his past instances of domestic violence when he passed a few comments on her appearance. Probably, Ryan Garcia smooth-talking himself into the ongoing spat riled up the two-time Olympic gold winner into challenging him.

Not many of those who commented on her post sounded too enthused by the game plan. Taking up the reports where a male boxer had reportedly knocked Claressa Shields down a few years ago, this user said, “A dude we never heard of almost slept you with 16oz’s and headgear without loading up, what Ryan would do too, you would be illegal, just stop.” Then another told her to desist from clout-chasing.

The Build-Up: Claressa Shields on Two Front Lines

“Wow, Ryan,” and “Now it all makes sense, Ryan. How could you?” were some of the posts on X from Claressa Shields when increasing reports suggested Ryan Garcia tested positive for banned substances. So when the latest test result cleared him of 19-norandrosterone, Gervonta Davis took the opportunity to fire potshots at Shields.

“So Ryan beat buddy a** fair and square… what the French bulldog lady (Claressa) have to say about?” He wrote, adding further, “And she blocked me. I shoulda blocked her a** for the way she look… she scare me.“

The middleweight champion launched her riposte. She picked instances of domestic violence allegedly involving Gervonta Davis, telling the Baltimorean to win a few more belts instead of wasting his time in incessant posting on X. “I am so happy that you think I look like a French bulldog and consider me ugly, because you beat up b**** that you consider cute. I’m glad I’m ugly to you ni**a. Ni**a go win some belts. Go win some belts ni**a. You standing upon here tweeting, tweeting, tweeting… If you that lonely, go and find you some friends,” she wrote.

Later, she told him how, had it not been for Floyd Mayweather Jr.‘s help, he wouldn’t have reached anywhere. Slamming Davis for avoiding Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney, she criticized him for fighting a ‘weight-drained’ Ryan Garcia.
