Following his victory over Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford expressed he wanted to face Canelo Alvarez next in boxing. Given the fact that Crawford is a welterweight while Alvarez fights in the super middleweight division, the undisputed welterweight champion thought they could potentially lock horns at a catchweight. According to his statements, ‘Bud’ could go up to 158 or 160lbs to face Alvarez. In this context, the 36-year-old even confidently declared that he would defeat the Mexican boxer if they fought at 158.

Recently, in an impressive performance, Canelo Alvarez defended his undisputed super middleweight title against Jermell Charlo. In the wake of his victory, in a bold statement, Alvarez announced that nobody could beat him in the sport. In addition, on being asked if a fight with Crawford made sense, the 33-year-old answered in negative. Following Canelo’s statements, Crawford recently unearthed an old video of the Mexican showing interest in Errol Spence Jr. at a catchweight. Ahead of his bout with Charlo, Canelo Alvarez announced that he did not look forward to going “down anymore“. Likewise, following his victory against ‘Iron Man,’ the Mexican phenom reiterated that a fight with Crawford did not make sense. At this, Crawford, unearthing an old interview of Canelo, wrote, “Lol what’s y’all thoughts on @Canelo saying he can make a fight with Spence at 160 but for me he say I can’t make the weight. Wouldn’t make a difference just a thought.” In no time, the tweet came to Claress Shields’ notice and she answered why Canelo does not want to face ‘Bud’.

According to Shields, who believes she can knock out Canelo, “He [Alvarez] don’t want smoke!” Although Shields and Crawford have taunted Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion has maintained silence. While Crawford continues pursuing Alvarez at 160, it is worth noticing Alvarez’s old thoughts on facing Spence Jr. at a catchweight.
