One of the downsides of being famous is that there are going to be memes tailor-made for them. However, the undisputed queen of boxing, Claressa Shields, knows exactly how to deal with them! And that’s exactly what she did with a meme that has been making the rounds on social media, with thousands of fans sharing it across the web. What’s the meme?
Well, as it turns out, there’s a meme about Shields, which claims Shields was a 380-pound single mother before she won her titles and became undisputed in boxing. It showed two pictures: One, of course, was of Shields while the other was of an obese woman who shared a slight likeness to Shields. It has also led many who proved gullible to believe that it was true. So, what did Shields do to combat this?
She made the ultimate move, one that many of her critics could never have imagined. Even those who knew the truth were forced to rethink its validity. Shields embraced the meme, asserting it was absolutely and unequivocally true. She took the false rumor and made it her own.

But, of course, this isn’t true—In fact, Shields doesn’t have any children, or does she?

All the way back in 2014, Shields seemingly had everything, a gold medal in the Olympics and a hopeful career ahead of her. However, she wanted a baby girl, and the perfect opportunity presented itself. Her cousin got pregnant but wanted to abort the child since she could not afford to have a third child. Seeing this, Shields stepped in to adopt the baby girl from her cousin.
In an interview with ESPNW.com, Shields said, “Her name is Klaressa Shields like mine, just spelled with a K” while explaining the entire story of her adoption. However, about eight months after Shields took the little girl to her home to live with her and her then-boyfriend Ardreal Holmes—things took a turn for the worse. The adoption papers were not finalized.

So, the mother wanted to make some changes to the agreement. These demands didn’t sit well with the unbeaten queen, and she wanted freedom from her cousin’s demands. So, she made the agonizing decision to move on. Even though it was one of the toughest decisions of her life—she let go of the child, cutting the strings her cousin tried to control her with.
With that said, Claressa Shields seems to have had the last laugh as fans fail to troll her through the ‘380-Pound Single Mom’ meme making the rounds on the internet. What did you think about the meme?
