The undisputed light middleweight champion claims that she understands what the five-division champion Floyd Mayweather goes through.

Claressa Shields relates to Floyd Mayweather

The legendary 50-0 fighter donned the ‘TBE’ moniker like no other. Mayweather portrayed being the legend that he is with no fear whatsoever. However, this assuredness earned him his fair share of haters throughout his career as well after his retirement. Although Mayweather handled his haters well.

Moreover, the undisputed light middleweight champion Claressa Shields expressed on Twitter stating that she relates to and understands the pain that Mayweather goes through regularly. She said, “Bro haters. They hate me like they hated Floyd”

The Olympic gold medalist believes she shares the same pain as Mayweather, as they also share the honor of being undefeated as professional boxers. However, unlike Shields, Mayweather never achieved the prestigious undisputed title, whereas Shields is the first boxer ever to become the undisputed champion in two weight classes.

What does the future hold for Shields?

Earlier this year, on February 5, 2022, Claressa Shields went toe to toe against the Slovenian boxer Ema Kozin for the unified light middleweight championship. Shields put on a scintillating performance as she dominated Kozin and retained her WBC, WBA, and IBF titles via a decision win.

Furthermore, Shields is ready for her next challenge in the face of Savannah Marshall for the undisputed middleweight championship. The duo will go head to head against each other on September 10, 2022, at the O2 Arena in London, England.
