After ten two-minute rounds, while Michael Alexander and Frank Lombardi scored the contest 96-95 and 96-94 respectively in Jonas’ favor, Diana Drews Milani gave the bout to Mayer with a score of 97-93. At this, several people from the boxing world were left shocked. Likewise, they took to X and voiced their personal opinions about the result of Mikaela Mayer vs. Natasha Jonas. As per her tweet, Claressa Shields was surprised that Jonas won the fight. Likewise, reiterating the scorecards, Shields wrote, “Wow. I didn’t see it that way.”

In a similar tone, although Lou DiBella praised Jonas for her performance, he felt the 39-year-old did not win the fight. “Btw, Jonas fought her ass off. Nothing but love for her. I just don’t think she won,” he stated.

Meanwhile, following the decision, Chantelle Cameron hoped to see a rematch between Jonas and Mayer. “I hope we get to see a rematch,” she said.

Besides several people from the boxing world, Mikaela Mayer herself felt that she deserved to win given the performance she displayed against Jonas. As a result, after the fight, during the in-ring interview, Mayer hoped for a rematch too.

Mayer wants to rematch Natasha Jonas
According to Mikaela Mayer, except for the first two rounds, the rest of the fight was in her control. In fact, the 33-year-old felt she “outpunched” Jonas and “landed the cleaner shots” too. Additionally, implying that her bout needed a reevaluation, Mayer said, “At the end of the day, I think that fight is worth seeing again. Like she [Jonas] said, one of the toughest fights she has had.”

Finally, Mayer declared that although they did not have a rematch clause, she would love to rematch Jonas in the ring. “The fans really enjoyed it. I did not have a rematch clause on my side.
