The night of legacies! Yesterday, the Brighton Center lit up as members of two illustrious boxing families in England did their kinsfolk immensely proud. Headlining the event billed ‘Bloodline,’ Chris Eubank Jr.‘s cousin Harlem Eubank stopped his German opponent Timo Schwarzkopf in the eleventh round. Later, Roman Fury, Tyson Fury‘s half-brother, also knocked out Bradley Davies. With the win, 30-year-old Harlem maintains an unbeaten record of 18 wins, seven of which were knockouts.

The son of Sam Eubank, brother of Chris Eubank Sr., debuted six years ago. Initially, during the fight, he appeared to be struggling. However, toward the later rounds, he recovered. Finally, in the eleventh, a lightening right hook from Harlem Eubank saw Schwarzkopf touching the canvas. Though he got up, it was clear the battle was over for him. The referee fittingly waived his hands, putting an end to the visitor’s misery.

It’s been 32 years since Eubank had the crowd jumping on the chairs. It was on February 23, 1991, Chris Eubank Sr. fought his first title defense against Dan Sherry at the Brighton Center. A few months before, the former had beaten Conor Benn’s father to become the WBO middleweight champion.

In front of his adoring hometown fans, Harlem Eubank breezed over what could probably be the toughest test of his professional life. Before putting the final full stop in the eleventh round, Eubank Sr.’s nephew had knocked down the Germany-based Kosovar two times. The Brighton native recently made news with his legendary uncle pitching his name as a possible line-up against the returning Conor Benn.

The win has made Harlem Eubank the new WBO Global Super Lightweight or Light Welterweight Champion. It is the division that some of the biggest names in current boxing call home. Neither he nor his more famous cousin, Chris Eubank Jr., hold any world titles. Thus, fans and followers would be keenly watching out to see whether the former decides to stay put at 140 pounds and await a fight with the likes of Teófimo Lopez, Subriel Matias, and Regis Prograis, among others. Otherwise, he decides to move up a division and fight future battles there.

It should be added that even Chris Eubank Jr.’s journey has been quite impressive this year. Despite his out-of-the-blue call out to Canelo Alvarez, Eubanks Jr. avenged his January loss to Liam Smith emphatically. The first time the duo met, the former light middleweight champion knocked out Eubank Jr. in the fourth round. But by September, the former was ready for a payback.

The bitter rivals met once again at the Manchester Arena on September 2. But unlike the last time, it was Chris Eubank Jr. who dominated right from the word go. Completely outboxing and outclassing his opponent, he finally forced an early stoppage by the tenth round. Last year, ‘Next Gen’ had a bout scheduled for October 8 with Conor Benn. However, it never came to fruition due to the latter’s doping issues. Now, a year later, with Benn’s return to active boxing, the hopes for the much-anticipated fight have been rekindled.
