Louie Coria absolutely rocked Robson Conceicao with a vicious left hook. The two were fighting on the undercard of Inoue vs Moloney. The fight was a 10 round contest and promised to be a worthy undercard for the main event, where Naoya Inoue aims to put the world on notice against John Moloney. This fight went slightly under the radar but clearly didn’t disappoint.
The 22-year-old American took on the veteran Brazilian in a super-featherweight bout. Louie Coria went into the fight with a record of 12-3-0 and Conceicao came in with an unbeaten record of 14-0. In the second round of the fight, Louie dropped Conceicao with a precise left hook to the head. The knockdown was set up by a fast uppercut, followed by the powerful left hook.

Conceicao took the punches like a champ and got up, However, this set the tone for the whole fight thereon. The two traded punches for the entirety of the 10 rounds, with neither fighter holding back. There was more controversy during the fight. The veteran Brazilian was deducted two points for low blows.

The fight went to the judges’ scorecard after an entertaining 10-rounds. Both fighters didn’t hold back and were in no inclination to leave it to the judges. Despite this, neither of them could get the knockout. Robson Conceicao won the fight on unanimous decision with scores of 99-89, 100-88, and 100-88. The undefeated Brazilian extends his record to 15-0.
Louie Coria has just missed out on yet another close contest. First against Adam Lopez and now Robson Conceicao, the American must wonder what more he needs to do. Fans of the sport will question the result because of the knockdown and the deduction. However, on the night Conceicao was the better fighter.

Conceicao can now look forward to his next fight and try to continue his upward trajectory in the sport. For Louie Coria, unfortunately, it’ll be back to the drawing board. This is his fourth loss of his short career so far. However, at 22-years of age, the young fighter still has enough of time to set things right.
