It wasn’t an easy night for George Kambosos Jr. As he tried to defend his IBO lightweight title while also trying to bag the vacant IBF belt, he lost a to superior display of skills by Vasyl Lomachenko. Loma secured the win by dropping Kambosos Jr. to his knees with a vicious body shot in the 11th round. Thus, dashing his hopes of making a resurgence in the lightweight division. As he picks himself up from the devastating loss, Ryan Garcia decided to rub salt in his wounds.
On X, ‘KingRy’ took digs at the fighter for his last night’s loss. He wrote, “George Kambozo s*cks. I’m sorry.” This, Kambosos Jr., did not appreciate. At the moment, Garcia finds himself marred in a controversy that even puts his victory over Devin Haney at risk. He has tested positive for banned PEDs and awaits proof of his innocence in the form of a test involving his B-Samples that are to be tested on the 22nd of May. Thus, the former champ used this very taunt to cut Ryan Garcia down to size and let him know, he is still a Greek warrior at heart.

In his reply to Ryan Garcia, George Kambosos Jr. started off by reminding the Victorville native that he’s won no titles. Whereas, Ferocious was not too long ago the unified champion of the lightweight division. “Won more belts than you’ll ever win princess the clean way [kiss emoji],” wrote the Aussie. Then, in an open rebuke, he hit out at Ryan Garcia: “Cheating dog I rather go out on my shield against the best and lose like a man than cheat with weight advantages and enhancements like you did,” in reference to him coming over weight in his fight against Devin Haney. But the attack didn’t end there.
Won more belts than you’ll ever win princess the clean way 😘 cheating dog I rather go out on my shield against the best and lose like a man than cheat with weight advantages and enhancements like you did. Let’s have a street fight then fuck the ring!! Use all the 💉 you want https://t.co/4Q55OeXtbu

In recent days, Garcia has called out UFC’s Sean O’Malley and Conor Mcgregor for street fights. Kambosos flipped the narrative here and called on Garcia for the same. He also cited his PED fiasco while he was at it. He added, “Let’s have a street fight then f**k the ring!! Use all the [Syringe emoji] you want.” Now, this should shut Garcia up for at least a while.
Following his defeat, Kambosos Jr. faces a crucial decision. Will he seek a high-profile fight to bounce back, or a calculated matchup to rebuild momentum? Who will his next opponent be?

What lies next for Ferocious?
It was ‘Loma’ and his precision cuts that ruled the night. The Ukrainian fighter came with all intentions to redeem himself from the Haney loss. Hence, against Kambosos, he left no stone unturned. Kambosos faced defeat despite his noteworthy performance in the early rounds. In the wake of this loss, what is his future plan?
Lou DiBella, his promoter, before the fight with Lomachenko, had told media outlets about potential pathways for his fighter. He noted, “There’s always the Teofimo Lopez fight. That’s a huge fight and a rematch always makes sense.” In 2021, he defeated Lopez to emerge as the unified champion of the lightweight division.

“(WBA lightweight world champion) Tank Davis would be a big fight, that would be a possibility…I don’t think (WBC world champion) Shakur Stevenson brings in as much money as Davis,” Lou DiBella added, hoping for a fight with Gervonta Davis next. But is a fight against Garcia on the cards? He explained, “Ryan Garcia’s way bigger too. The issue is the size, but maybe George takes a non-title fight and takes on Garcia at an increased weight.” However, now that the Aussie has lost the fight, the chances of him getting those big matches are slim. Only time will tell who he chooses as his next opponent.
