Keith Thurman and Tim Tszyu faced each other in the press conference on Wednesday for their fight on Saturday, March 30, later this year. The major consensus reveals Tszyu is the heavy favorite because of Thurman’s spotty resume lately. Meanwhile, Leonard Ellerbe has shared his predictions for the upcoming fight in an interview today!

The PBC pay-per-view on Amazon Prime fight scheduled to unfold in the T-Mobile arena will feature three major title fights. Nevertheless, the main attraction remains ‘One-Time’ Thurman’s return to the ring despite it not being a title fight anymore! However, can the former world champion make a solid comeback against a rising superstar? Here’s what the CEO of Mayweather Promotions thinks!

Speaking to Fight Hype, Ellerbe revealed he is expecting a tremendous showing from the main event fight between ‘One Time’ Thurman and Tszyu. He asserted, “These people have lost their damn minds if they think that Keith Thurman doesn’t have a great chance to win this fight.” Not just a chance, Ellerbe thinks Thurman has still got it!

“I’m picking Keith Thurman to win this fight. Tszyu is a tremendous young fighter, but I think Keith has some tricks up his sleeve,” said Ellerbe. He feels Thurman’s experience in the ring and unpredictable skills will give him an upper hand in the fight. Ellerbe stated, “I think he’s going to shock the world in the main event.” That aside, why is it not a title fight anymore?

Keith Thurman reveals what will actually be on the line

After the fight was announced earlier this month, a report from ESPN’s Mike Coppinger revealed that the sanctioning body, WBO, has declined to sanction the fight as a title fight. The main reason behind the decision was the fight won’t be at light-middleweight. The actual fight will take place in the catchweight division.

It’s also worth mentioning that the sanctioning body decided to make the decision because Thurman competes in the welterweight division and has just fought once in 2022 since the July 2019 loss to Manny Pacquiao. However, this hasn’t fazed Thurman, who said, “The title will not be on the line, but his pride will be, and that’s good enough for me,” during the press conference.
