Did someone really try to sabotage Sandy Ryan's career before the Mikaela Mayer fight? What's your take?

Sandy Ryan had one of the most horrible nights of her career when she should have showcased her talent to the world. The British fighter not only lost the gold strap that night but also suffered a humiliating incident when someone threw red paint over her, merely hours before the main event. In an alien territory, it shattered her confidence and affected her performance inside the ring. But it seems she is closer to justice and truth, as she dropped the update.

Ryan, 31, had to defend her WBO welterweight crown against Mikaela Mayer at the Madison Square Garden Theater, but when she was leaving the hostel lobby, someone splashed a bucket of red paint over her. The jarring incident left her shocked and her series of unfortunate events didn’t end there. Sandy Ryan then also succumbed to a close decision loss, as the American fighter edged her on the judges’ scorecard.

The Derby native then turned to her X handle and detailed her experience of both the loss and the attack. Admitting her inability to accept what transpired this past Friday, she declared, “Still trying to come to terms with what happened last night. I know I shouldn’t have fought after I was attacked leaving my hotel. But I couldn’t let them win like that.”

While Sandy Ryan believed she had done enough to rack up the win, she also revealed that they had obtained the CCTV footage. In addition, the NYPD was on the case. Calling out the attacker, the 7-2-1 record holder continued, “I was fighting off empty and still felt I won the fight. We have obtained the CCTV and are in contact with the NYPD. Pretty obvious what happened and the truth will be set free shortly. You tried to ruin my career. But trust me, it’s only just begun.”

The incident had almost put the plug on the fight, but Ryan eventually decided to put on the show for the fans. Meanwhile, some doubts had been raised whether Mayer, 34, had anything to do with it. But the LA native cleared herself off the hook.
