Another potential suitor has thrown her name into the mix to face Alycia Baumgardner. Carolina Dubois, who is trying to carve out a name for herself after her heavyweight champion brother Daniel‘s exploits, has seen a rapid surge in the ranks. Not only does she have a well-rounded fighting base, but also harbors ambitions to be the best. And for her, that way goes through ‘The Bomb’. But there is a twist.
Dubois, 23, is building her splendid pro career on a strong amateur career base, with her Youth Olympic gold making her a hot prospect. She realized that potential when she dismantled Maira Moneo this August and clinched the WBC interim lightweight title, setting herself on the path to face Katie Taylor next. But the only name on the British boxer’s hit list is the undisputed super featherweight champion, Alycia Baumgardner.
Dubois, at 10-0, expressed her zeal to match Baumgardner, at 15-1, when she turned to her X handle. However, she also pointed out that a fight between them would not be possible, as she didn’t hold a major title. But when that happens, the London native will chase that fight.

I really want to fight alycia baumgardner. I feel like it’s a great fight that makes a lot of sense. Maybe not right now, but when I get my hands on some major belts.
It’s the fight I will be chasing!— Caroline dubois (@SduboisC) September 28, 2024
Dubois wrote, “I really want to fight alycia baumgardner. I feel like it’s a great fight that makes a lot of sense. Maybe not right now, but when I get my hands on some major belts. It’s the fight I will be chasing!”
In a following post, the lightweight boxer explained her stance, as she noted, “If she [Baumgardner] said, “Let’s fight next, I’d say yes! Let’s go! It’s just that my lack of respected belts is a natural block in the road, that I can only get through with time.”
Dubois might have to wait for long before fighting Baumgardner, as the latter is slowly getting back into the groove after spending over a year on the sidelines. In addition, there is also the weight difference between the two, which Baumgardner might endeavor to bridge a year or two down the line. As of now, she is content with making a return to the squared circle.

Alycia Baumgardner’s spoiled return to boxing’s fold
Baumgardner made her return to the ring against Delfine Persoon. However, the fight ended in an anti-climatic fashion because of a clash of heads. The unfortunate incident happened in the fourth round, as Persoon’s sustained a cut on her forehead, and the referee stopped the fight after a medical checkup. In the post-fight interview, the super featherweight champion said, “I just know I was gonna really lay it on her. But this is boxing.”
Baumgardner also expressed her satisfaction with making a comeback to the ring, ending a 13-month layoff. She continued, “I did what I wanted to do. Just to be back in the ring is what’s important at this point.” It remains to be seen whom Baumgardner fights next and makes a defense against. But she now might be wary of Dubois and watch her progress closely if the two decide to put pen to paper in the coming years.
