Dillian Whyte has been brutally scrutinized by the fans ever since he was bested by Alexander Povetkin during Matchroom’s return to action. Many billed it as a major upset since Whyte was touted as the favorite to clinch the win.
He showcased the same over the course of the fight and managed to outbox Povetkin throughout the primary rounds. However, all that the Russian needed was a sleek uppercut to seal the deal in his favor.
That said, Whyte hasn’t hesitated to demand an immediate rematch. But heavyweight contender Michael Hunter claims it to be a bad idea.

Michael Hunter wants Dillian Whyte to take some time off
Hunter, who has earlier faced Alexander Povetkin, was backing the Russian throughout the build-up of the fight. He also suggested that Povetkin can defeat Whyte comfortably.
Well, if not a comfortable one, Povetkin’s uppercut earned him the WBC Interim heavyweight title. While the re-match is being touted by the entire boxing community, Hunter says that Whyte should delay the contest a bit more.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Hunter said, “I think it is a little too soon for him to have a rematch. I think it would be a good idea to take some time off.
“He can get that fight back – he has enough clout and notoriety to fight another fight, get mentally strong, let the wounds heal, then go back to war with Povetkin.”
Michael Hunter has never been knocked out in his career till now. Boasting a record of 18-1-1, he is one of the contenders looking to mount a challenge for the heavyweight strap.
When asked to reflect on his opinion as far as Whyte’s loss is concerned, he said, “There will always be, because he got knocked out. That’s not to say he can’t put a band-aid on it or be stronger than before.

“But it is a wound, it is an open cut. Depending on his energy, depends on how healed he is from the situation.”
The Body Snatcher still wants the beef
Amid all this talk, Whyte is still confident about being a better boxer than Povetkin. He has been saying that since his loss on August 22. During an interview with iFL TV, Whyte said that he is eyeing a rematch soon.

In addition, Whyte claims to bring no change in his game plan as he was already bossing Povetkin around. However, underestimating the Russian may not be a very safe and smart move considering how Whyte has already paid the price for belittling his opponent once.
