Canelo Alvarez is showing no signs of stopping as he is still fighting it out in the top tier of boxing. The Mexican-born fighter debuted in the year 2005 and continues to compete with the best of the best. Throughout his professional career, the undisputed champion was only defeated twice. His first defeat was against Floyd Mayweather and the other was against Dmitry Bivol. Though, the two losses are distinct from each other.

The loss against Mayweather was early on in Alvarez’s career. It seems Alvarez took many valuable lessons from the defeat and ultimately became a force to be reckoned with who he stills lives and breathes boxing . Recently, Nate Jones, assistant trainer of Mayweather claimed that Alvarez has learned a lot from Mayweather’s fighting style over the years.

Jones is a former Olympic medalist. However, things took a turn for the worst when the boxer had to retire from the sport of boxing due to an injury. Ever since then, Jones has involved himself in training other boxers. One of the most notable boxers that he has trained is Mayweather. He is a close aide to the 50-0 fighter. Not to mention, he was also in the training camp for Mayweather in his super-fight against Alvarez.

Recently, Jones was asked about Alvarez taking on David Benavidez in their match. He responded by saying, “Canelo has learned a lot from Floyd. Canelo is gonna use the whole ring. Canelo gonna freeze him a lot. Only way Canelo is gonna hit him is with the jab. If he don’t hit him with the jab he is gonna get dog washed.”

Jones has been training boxers for many decades. One might agree that Alvarez’s fight with Benavidez is no walk in the park. He has to use everything in his repertoire to beat a fighter like Benavidez.

Floyd Mayweather gains respect from Canelo Alvarez

Alvarez and Mayweather are two of the greatest fighters in recent times. Seeing the two square off was a sight to behold. Though, the two were very hostile in the lead-up to the fight. Not to mention, the hostility also continued post the bout. However, time heals all wounds and the two appear to have mutual respect.

A reporter recently asked Alvarez if Devin Haney fights like Mayweather. To which, Alvarez stated,
