Canelo Alvarez, the maiden undisputed super middleweight champion, is one of the biggest Mexican success stories. As of now, the Mexican superstar is the focal point of boxing. Not one to rest at the top, the pound-for-pound king is hell-bent on conquering other weight divisions.
However, he has several opponents knocking on his door. Likewise, the big boxing promotions are also negotiating with Team Canelo. A boxing insider, Mike Coppinger, recently took to Twitter and gave an update amid heavy rumors circulating on the internet.

The pound-for-pound king is going to return to the ring in the light heavyweight division against WBA light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022. The location is still unconfirmed.
Canelo Alvarez wrote on Twitter, “It’s happening! I will fight this upcoming May 7th against Dmitry Bivol.”

Prior to this announcement, there was a rumor that Canelo would lock horns against WBC middleweight champ Jermall Charlo. However, the Mexican star has turned down all such speculations.
For the uninitiated, after Canelo and Bivol fight, if Alvarez wins, he will have a trilogy with his arch-rival Gennady Golovkin. However, for this to happen, the IBF and IBO middleweight champion ‘GGG’ must outclass Japanese pugilist Ryota Murata.
