Claressa Shields had put Shakur Stevenson in her list of the current P4P best boxers, way before ‘Fearless’ became the super featherweight world champion. Despite garnering criticism, Shields stood strong beside Stevenson. It turned out to be prophetic as Stevenson vanquished Jamel Herring to grab the WBO 130 lbs title.

A two-division champion now, Stevenson can explore more into the 130 lbs roster, and can potentially unify the straps. In that case, we may see a WBO-WBC unification fight between Shakur Stevenson and Oscar Valdez somewhere down the line.

While many people may favor Valdez in that mix, ‘GWOAT’ Claressa Shields has predicted ‘Fearless’ to beat Valdez. Following Stevenson’s win, Shields took to Twitter and expressed joy via several posts.

Claressa Shields wrote, “Shakur will beat up Oscar Valdez too. I can’t wait to see what he do next! And just know Jamel not done being a champ, he gonna call out another champ & win another belt I believe!”

WBC titlist Oscar Valdez is arguably the best super featherweight star on the stage. 30-0 as a professional, he has attained 23 wins via KOs and has is already a two-division world champion. Besides, he is a prime member of Team Canelo. And trains with some of the very best of the time. These factors would make him appear to be a superior boxer.

Nevertheless, Claressa Shields believes Stevenson has what it takes to vanquish Valdez. He is 17-0 as a professional, holding 9 KOs under the belt. The numbers fall short before Oscar Valdez. But that hasn’t taken away Shields’ confidence in ‘Fearless’.

While ‘T-REX’ celebrated and cheered for Stevenson’s win, she was equally impressed by the former champion, Jamel Herring. Shields predicted to see ‘Semper Fi’ become a champion once again. She also hailed Herring’s journey from the 2012 Olympics to becoming a world champion. And billed the fellow American to have a ‘heart of a lion’.

A similar sense of respect was seen between Herring and Stevenson after their heated clash. Despite being stopped, Jamel Herring showed respect towards his opponent and didn’t justify his loss with any excuses. As the super featherweight division came across a massive turn of titles, the future can hold a lot of excitement for the fans.
