According to sources, Canelo Alvarez is scheduled to fight Jermall Charlo in September of this year. Charlo is a former two-division champion and flaunts an undefeated boxing record. The fight is expected to take place on September 16, as per talkSPORT.

There is no shortage of opponents for the undisputed champion. And his next two fights with Haymon are rumored to take place in May and September of 2024, respectively. Charlo was in the running for a fight with Alvarez last year as well, but the undisputed Super middleweight champion chose Dmitry Bivol. Alvarez’s deal gave Oscar De La Hoya an enticing opportunity.

It should be noted that Charlo has not fought since his last win against Juan Macias Montiel via unanimous decision in 2021. And his inactivity has been credited to mental health complications. This will be his first fight after a break of almost two years. And it will be interesting to see what he brings to the ring.

Will Dmitry Bivol and Canelo Alvarez fight again?

Alvarez has been eager for a rematch against Dmitry Bivol. The Russian is the only second boxer to have defeated the 32-year-old. And the Mexican tried his best to make a fight happen again between the two. But, the parties could not come to an amicable decision for the fight.
