Canelo has made no secret to fight on the Cinco De Mayo weekend, an occasion of a grand celebration in his hometown of Mexico. Mike Coppinger from The Athletic was the first to report the news on his Twitter.

He suggested February will be the date for the fight against Yildirim after he agreed to details with Eddie Hearn. This would give Canelo just enough time to come back in May.

The fact that Alvarez has signed a deal is also a noteworthy point and could be a sign for the future. Hearn said it would be an honor to work with him. Thus, fans should keep their eyes peeled on this union.

This could make it easy to strike up a deal. Hearn even commented on the possibility of this. Speaking to iFL TV he said, “I believe we can make that fight for Cinco De Mayo. But, Bill’s gotta be happy. And until Bill’s happy with the deal for that fight, it won’t happen.”

Hearn finished with, “That fight is there for Billy Joe. I think we have an opportunity to get that fight over the line”.
